The Japanese fleet has enough to do without shielding transports ferrying troops to the Chinese mainland. To save 12IPCs?

He thinks China is the real killer for Japan and it can be however I don’t like the idea of using USSR to keep China alive because of how fragile USSR will be against Germany.

----But, like Gar has said, you should weigh all of the pros and cons first:

–By DOW against Anzac you also bring UK-Pacific and America into the conflict immediately thus allowing UK-Pacific to assist China in it’s struggle for survival.
–Also, you loose the 10 IPC NO for not being at war with UK-Pac, Anzac, & having not entered F.I.C.
–Also, you allow China to attain it’s NO of keeping the road open(with UK-Pac help). IMHO the bonuses YOU ATTAIN and the bonuses you DENY YOUR ENEMY usually add up to the difference in who wins the victory.
–I don’t mean to state the obvious,…and I absolutely love entirely new strategies,…but IMHO it’s an easier win to NOT DOW while beating up China and the road while building your forces to take Hong Kong, Phillipines, the Dutch East Indies, and eventually India.

----Just remember, It’s all about FUN, and the only thing that matters is having Fun while you WIN the game(more fun)!

In the rules, it states (paraphrasing) that Japan attacking or landing on Dutch Islands provokes war with UK and ANZAC.  In a different section it also states that unprovoked war with UK and ANZAC by Japan results in war with America. Is this a proper use of the transitive property?  I don’t know if its just me or what but it sounds like America shouldn’t be going to war over the Dutch Islands.  What is the official clarification please?

1)  Japan must first declare war on UK/Anzac before they can perform a combat move on a Dutch Territory.
2) If Japan declares war on UK/ANZAC before UK or ANZAC declare war on Japan, it is unprovoked.  However, it only permits America to declare war on her turn.  It does not immediately bring the US into the war.

Sarge, do you realize the UK and ANZ have to be at war with Japan to get their NO’s in Alpha 2?

I have just finished two games of Pacific 40 w/ the alpha+1 setup rules and i need a few answers, really appreciate any help.

Is america supposed to collect all of thier no’s after there at war, europe ones included. I only ask this because i was japan for both games and i completely dominated the allies, and it wasn’t because poor plaiing by the allies they really had no chance.
                                                    Breakdown
Turn 3 japan finishes off the last of the chineese and have thier ships off the coast of mallay.
Turn 5 Japan wipes out india and remaining fleets, there are two now are positioned off of japan and iwa jima.
At this time the allies surrendered because japan now has twice the fleet of america and almost twice the ipc’s. (This game was over before it started and the second game followed the exact same course even with the allied players switching forces.

Is japan to strong with the alpha+1 setup, i know there weaker than oob but it still seams 1 sided to me, i mean it was a total massaccer.

Oh yea i even took french indo-china on the first round both games and didn’t get the ten ipc bonus. I need help to understand how how the allies have a chance

No, it won’t affect UK either. However, a DOW on UK allows US to DW on japan and Germany and Italy

I thought that a dow on UK doesn’t affect US so it can’t DW any Axis unless an axis power has DW on US

No, like in P40, an unprovoked DOW on the British Empire=US getting to declare war on next turn

I don’t think I’ll apply any change to pacific in the Global Game. And I bet I won’t be playing stand alone pacific '40 after euro 40 release, due to global playing.

But I’m sure I’ll like more the stand alone pacific 40 instead of the europe 40! So I guess I’ll apply the new adjustement only in the stand alone pacific.
