Japanes Pacific conquest - preliminary thoughts.

Counter attack is better.  Take islands, you can keep big fleet on Phil or buy airbase naval french Indochina… Up to you. You want minor fic anyway. I honestly don’t care if USA parks on Japan… Kind of what happens when Japan takes over india, because all the air and transports slam it… Unless India retreated away then yeah USA won’t get to do that.

Game started… let’s see how the first few rounds proceed.  I will post updates periodically.

Could someone please clarify the kamikaze rules? I thought that you could kamikaze any enemy surface warships in the marked zones during combat movement but I guess I’ve been completely wrong this whole time.

Just to add to Kam rule: Kamikaze can not attack Subs or Transports: So if you go into sz 6, go with a lot of Subs to kill the Japanese navy, but only on attack as a few of you already mentioned. The Japanese player will have to start sacrificing there destroyers if any, which then starts your surprise attacks once destroyers are out of the way.

I do not think it matters. Just because you DOW, doesn’t mean you have to invade.

Many Russians will DOW first, as they can then move into Western China with Mech units to help out.
If the Russian players moves all 18 INf into Amur and has not DOW you first, I think you have to do so and ATTACK!

The bigger reason for Russia to DOW Japan on Turn 1 is so if Japan DOW’s the Allies, Allied units can move into Russia in the East.

Thanks I’ll have to run that by the group, it will change things a little.  That’s too bad that they let it out without a note in the rulebook or a better review of all the components

A lot of this depends on the UK.  If Germany pulls off a successful Sealion, then the US should spend primarily in the Atlantic so they can liberate England.  You don’t want to totally ignore the Pacific, but just spend enough there to keep Japan from going wild all over the Pacific.  With good strategy and some luck, a smaller US presence, ANZAC and India should be able to keep Japan busy long enough for the US to get England back in the game before Italy and Germany get too strong.
However, if Sealion fails or is not attempted, and the UK stays in the game for a while, then I would say US should spend primarily in the Pacific.  Again, you don’t want to completely ignore the Atlantic.  Perhaps a few destroyers to hamper German sub activity, some troops to help take back/keep Gibralter, maybe even a small invasion force on Normandy that can be backed up by British troops and open the way to liberate France.  With a small US presence, the Brits should be able to keep Italy in check in Africa and the Med while also harrassing the Germans enough so the Russians can better keep them from taking too much of Russian territory.  Meanwhile, a much larger US presence in the Pacific can pound the Japanese navy out of existence while steadily driving them back to Japan.  The US should be able to replace it’s naval losses better than Japan, especially since Japan will also have to support the land offensive against China and India.  Japan will keep losing valuable units while the Allies grow stronger.

Try using the same setup, but adding an NO for Japan that gives it 10 IPCs each turn that it’s not at war with any of the following powers: USA, UK/ANZAC, or France.  Have fun, and let us know how it goes!

i will glad to see it in the next faq, because this “new” Japan is a bit weak. i think this new NO is a good point between historical accuracy and balancing. I hope that will be approved by LH.

Yes its one turn early, but its not that huge of a swing, esp if Japan can go up nearly 20 with the UK going down 7 for the US to go up 30.
