I would possibly agree with you if your using the OOB game but the Alpha set up is much better! Not much point in discussing a strategy for a version that shouldn’t really be used that much.

Far to much air on the normal set up.
And Japan has one less transport, so it needs to be more careful in planning

So does the Alpha setup make it easier for the allies? If so I like OOB because in the probably 6 globals we’ve played, axis has only won once.

It doesn’t make it easier for either side I have found. used to think the game favoured the allies but some of the strats that I have discovered for the axis have made me rethink that conclusion as now the axis are winning a lot more. The axis strats are just not as easily seen as the allies one. I can assure you that so far the game seems very balanced with players of equal skill level playing.
In AAP40 my one game as Japan resulted in a pretty easy win due to going all out on J1. But in Global you have to consider the USA getting that massive IPC boost if you attack UK/ANZAC. I find the best strategy is to focus on taking China and killing any Russian INF that get too close. Dare the UK to attack you early, if they do you get a free shot at the DEI.

That wont work as easily with alpha set up… J1 attack in Alpha is usually a bad idea if the allies know what they are doing.
