Correct, it already assuming Mech Infantry is literally a half track with an infantry unit attached to get value of the unit. I’d just have a house rule that allows Mechs to pull AA guns and Artillery two spaces.

Yes, it’s true that would be a much more simple way to do it. Personally I don’t think I’d set a limit to how many times per turn, that to me makes it harder to keep track. Just have a token you can place on a territory, and any time you want to raise an ipc value you pay the next number it would be risenand give it another token. So a territory with 1 could be raised to 2 if you pay 2 ipcs. A territory you would like to raise, say from 4 to 8, you would have to pay to unlock each individual number. Pay 5 to rais to 5, then pay 6 for 6, 7 for 7, and finally 8 for 8. That would cost you to bring the 4 to 8 26 ipcs in total.

I hate doing math in games as much as the next guy. Let me explain it like you would see on some arcade game or something. The level 2 gear costs 200 gold. The level 3 gear costs 300 gold and so on. In the end you’d be spending an overall amount for the individual upgrades

I believe it’s a simple mechanic, in most cases i don’t see people cranking out 26 ipc in one turn for a big jump in production like that. The bigger numbers would be bought a turn at a time. The u.s. would have to spend. To just increase every single territory by 1 and no higher 47 ipcs. 47 ipcs they would probably rather spend on making units.

In all I believe it adds a new layer of strategy, along with a personalized experience, there’s a lot of things you could try in both the offensive and defensive aspect of strategy. Along with a dynamic map, and instant gradification to the people that plunder. Hell if you wanted to do a scorched earth policy against the soviets, so if they were to ever gain back the territory you so valantly fought for, they would have to pay back up to make it operational.

Effectively giving you options to bleed your enemy dry ecinomically, militarily and "agriculturally " but all war and no pay can make a sleeping giant more of a problem than it already is. Balances out your focus, you know? More options

I’ve seriously considered using the map and customizing it for my never-ending variant project.

One thing I like in both Risk! And Attack! That I didn’t like previously is the “sea lane” movement as opposed to A&A’s transport only movement. This idea is one I’m tinkering with on the A&A maps not only to speed up the game but to also break away from standardized strategy. Which not only lengthens the game but contributes negatively IMO to replayability as well as other aspects.

not revisiting the list nearly as much as I haven’t added in HBG’s UK set and will have to double check because I believe the French got some units since my last update. But yes I find it useful.

I had not entered the 2nd Japan set or the UK set HBG released, those have been added. and the going nuclear set HBG just released.

Actually, I would say all tanks are A: 3 D: 2 but you can combine it with an infantry for it to D: 3 if they are American, Russian or German.  Potentially British.

Italy, ANZAC, Japan and France would not be able to combine these.

It’d be more in line with BLITZKRIEG since Germany could combine an infantry iwth a tank, and a tank with a tactical bomber for extra punch on offense and defense, more akin to what they actually did.

I don’t know how many folks here scan all the boards, but there is a fellow that formed a company called Field Marshall Games, FMG for short.  He is making accessories for A&A and is about to release new pieces for the A&A games.  The first release will be a complete set of Italian pieces.  The other nations will follow and I think this is going to be a great thing.  If you have time, check out this thread.

It is already over 35 pages, so it will take a long time to read.  But the essence is he is about to take the next step and take pre-orders for the Italian pieces.  I bought a set of special dice from FMG and I am happy with them.  He is also selling a dice tower.  He plans to add other stuff.  I hope he gets plenty of support so he can fund the development of all his projects.  Take a look.  The set will include some new pieces which may help with your house rules.

I remember right after AAR came out, almost five years ago, playing a game of AAE with tanks that defend on 3. It was horrible, horrible idea. Germany just got too much out of that one. But reduced prices on fighters and carriers didn’t seem to break the game as much. Germany builds lots of fighters, but so do the UK and US. Nobody builds carriers in AAE unless something unusual has happened anyway.

At any rate for both AAE and AAP besides the reduced price on fighters and carriers to match AAR (and 24 VPs for AAP) my group plays with the rules as is. Transports are any land or one tank, tanks defend on 2, etc.
But now with AA50 there’s a lot of change. The problem with wholesale just changing the unit stats is that setups were designed for the original stats.

So I have a few questions:
Do you think fighters that cost 10 and carriers at 16 ruins or damages gameplay in either AAE or AAP? Especially considering escorts for SBRs it might be a concern.

Any consider going through and tweaking the setups for E and P to make them fair for the new unit stats? It might do good to freshen them up a bit. I think if well done it could further enhance the Pacfic especially. Convoy values, of course, are a concern.

What about tweaking setups to Europe to add Italy? Without Sub-Saharan Africa this might be pointless, but maybe the oil money alone would be enough.
