 About my very first question about the battle between the fighter & sub… If they both remain in the seazone…does the fighter get 4 moving space from that seazone at HIS turn?i thought fighters MUST have a space to land AT THE end of anyones turn and cant be left floating in the middle of a seazone. thanks guys

 The only way that a fighter could be defending in a sea zone without a carrier is if it was scrambled into the sea zone. After the battle, it would return to the territory it was scrambled from. If that territory was captured by the enemy, the fighter would have one space to find another place to land.

 And also in your original example you had a CA FTR vs SUB. The ftr would not get to roll because there is no dd present in the battle, so it cannot hit the sub.

He probably also meant an Aircraft Carrier not a Cruiser. Cruisers = CA (don’t ask me why, there’s no A in Cruiser far as I can see…) and AC is Aircraft Carrier…
-

 CV is carrier, not AC. AC is air conditioning…or alternating current. Still, if using a CV and a ftr vs a sub, the ftr still won’t get to fight against the sub because there’s no dd present.

 Screw dat. They wanna call it a carrier vehicle, fine, but I’m calling it an Aircraft Carrier or A.C. Not really sure what it’s an SS for Submarine either, shouldn’t it just be S? Same for Destroyer? BB makes sense, Battle Boat…close enough to Battleship afai-concerned.

 @Cmdr: Screw dat. It’s US naval ship class designation, and AC stands for auxilliary-collier. Any ship starting with “A” indicates auxilliary, I believe. There’s no reason to call a carrier CA since it’s an unclear abbreviation, and if you call it AC most people will probably still understand what you mean , but since there is an official abbreviation that most people with knowledge of ww2 history will use, well, arguably it makes sense to keep them in mind or clearly spell out the ship rather than making abbreviations that have no historic significance (when there are already abbreviations with precedence). Larry needs to implement all of those in the next A&A version. :lol:
 Then maybe we could have some units that cost 1 or 2 IPC’s…

 Then maybe we could have some units that cost 1 or 2 IPC’s…Yes, I would like to see a “Lighter than Air Aircraft Tender”. I imagine they would be absolutely critical to the sacking of East USA by Germany. oh. wait. I forgot, this isn’t Crimson Skies. or WW1.

 Thanks for the list kcdzim. I didn’t know there were that many different types of ships! I figure its best to use the official designations so that people know what I am talking about…and I don’t sound like an unedumacated fool. Still, to each their own…
-

 Yea, thanks for the list, but, uhm…who the hell came up with the list? Someone needs a spanking! Same with the twit that renamed first corps EYE corps… (used EYE instead of I on purpose.) Oh well, I refuse to accept your reality and in its place I substitute my own: BB = Battle Boat
 CA = Cruiser Attack
 DD = Destroyer Dreadnaught
 SS = Silly Submarine
 AC = Awesome Craft (aka Aircraft Carrier)

 Actually, members of I Corps are offended when you call it “eye” corps. They are “First!”

 What i meant was this
 If a fighter (attacker) attacks a seazone with an enemy submarine and a cc,in the event that the defender somehow chooses the cc as casualty ,and then he misses his cruiser’s hit against the fighter.
 This leaves the fighter and the sub in the seazone. Does the fighter use up the rest of his moving spaces to go back to friendly territory or does he automatically retreat moving one space to friendly adjacent territory…?
-

 You’re example is flawed because the ftr cannot attack the sub, there is no attacking dd present. This battle is actually 1 CA vs 1 ftr, the sub cannot get hit or fight.
-

 And fighters don’t retreat one space like ground units do. Fighters can move whatever movement they have left, so must fly 3 or less to the zone or territory it is attacking, leaving at least 1 to fly elsewhere. If your force is all air and there are enemy subs, those enemy subs are not involved in the battle in any way because they are ineligible targets for air that is not accompanied by a destroyer(s).
-

 You mean the submarine does not take part in the fight at all? What im saying is that if a fighter scores a hit,the cruiser must be taken as a casualty…true? and then if the cruiser misses a hit on his turn…the result will end up leaving 1 fighter and 1 submarine in the seazone…
-

 Nvm i understand now,subs are not part of the battle at all and they are ignored.thanks!

 thank you 4 clearing that up.
 I have read the alpha+2 changes to the game and i stumbled upon this which kind of puzzles me,regarding the submarine special attack
 it reads:
 “. Submarines no longer fire a special “sneak attack” shot at unescorted transports. Transports are not allowed to unload land units for an amphibious assault in a sea zone containing an enemy sub(s) belonging to a power with which they are at war unless at least one of his warships was also present in the sea zone at the end of the Combat Move phase.”
 My question is,why only the end of the COMBAT move phase.Can’t i do this in non-combat move and escort a transport with another surface warship,allowing an amphibious attack and ignoring the presence of the submarine completely?
