3rd Edition Rules

Hello, well i translate the manual of A&A PC 1998, from German to English. The new 3° edition rules are:

"…new features in the rules of the 3rd edition

Diving submarines: defending submarines can dive during the fight or withdraw from the fight. A submerged submarine remains in the same sea zone until it resurfaces after the fight.

Air units can withdraw from an amphibious attack: figthers and bombers can retreat from an amphibious attack if the things are shell-dead to the attacker.

Several AAA in one territory: you can now place several AAAs on a territory. However, only one of these AAA can fire during defence.

New sea units can be placed in disputed sea zones: they can now place their sea units in sea zones occupied by the friend. In this case, the fight takes place during the enemy’s strike, in case the enemy does not draw his unites before the fight from the zone.
Note: you still need to place your sea units in the immediate vicinity of one of your industrial complexes.

Western Canada no longer borders directly on the Atlantic Ocean: this prevents a player from moving units from the Atlantic directly to Western Canada…"

Now the plastic figures are finite and listed in the box (box that have a sheman tank, and not the futuristic panzer 3 we use and love); but the plastic chips number is diferenti in the boxes, some have 10 red others 7, i have 6, some have 50 blancas other 65, i have 72, soooo….

Wouldn’t do it unless you’re a collector. Rules are available online and pieces are available on ebay or HBG. just my opinion

you would be correct scardog. lol i dont know why i put 3 fighters total. sorry about that misprint.

even with only 2 fighters, it is still pretty much a lock (barring crazy rolls)

and i made another misprint as well

instead of "combat:
battle 1, sea battle

2 battleships, 2 fighters, 1 sub, and 1 aircraft carrier    vs  1 fighter , 1 aircraft carrier, and a sub."

it should be 2 battleships, 1 bomber, i fighter*, 1 sub……

Fair enough.

But that “settlement” does violate black-letter game rules over an ambiguity that does not really exist.

Ummm……there is no way that Stalin would have put his forces under the command of the US or UK, or vice versa. Remember, after the Germans surrendered a large portion of the US military wanted to keep going to Moscow. Wisely they decided not to.

As far as the factories go, they are one of the most unrealistic parts of the game. The UK builds a factory in Persia and starts cranking out armor, not to mention aircraft carriers and battleships? Not an easy task.

Not playing by these rules is essential, as SUD said. I remember using them back in the dark ages and I could beat the axis without using the US at all. Russia holds off Germany while the UK pounds Japan and then turns back west and Russia and the UK run over Germany.

I think it was allowed in 2nd Ed,
or better: there must be one edition where you could do that.

Thanks. Im getting a few friends together to play A&A this weekend, and I want to make it more interesting, but without throwing any balance issues out of whack.
