Sea Zone markers for switching between Pacific and Europe sides

I see no mention on page 23 of sea zone numbers. Only this:

“You can place sea units only in sea zones adjacent to territories containing eligible industrial complexes. New sea units can enter play even in a hostile sea zone. No combat occurs because the Conduct Combat phase is over.”

If you look at page 8, you WILL see this:

“Note: The Caspian Sea (surrounded by Caucasus, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Eastern Persia, Persia, and Northwest Persia) is considered to be a sea zone, even though it does not have a number.”

I suggest you recheck the rules. You might be looking at the wrong book.

Along with the damage if it was never bought off before it can be upgraded.  It could be a 26 IPC expense for the original owner to upgrade it back to the major.

I’ve got a more offensive posture to take if Japan masses in Carolines.  Move the fleet to z30, including the fighter from Philippines and 2 loaded transports.  Land 3 fighters, 1 tac and 1 bomber on Johnston Island and build an airbase there, with 2 more carriers in z10. Leave a destroyer in z25 and maybe z31 to block a landing on Hawaii. Now if Japan attacks anything J2 you can smoke that fleet off carolines and maybe even take the island if they don’t leave a blocker.  Planes that take off from Johnston island will land on the carriers from z10 when they NCM to z30.  ANZAC can help too.

I think it’s still 8–you need Paris, the 3 Red cities, and Cario IIRC.

Well, the details of how you implement the idea in the game are up to you.  All I’m trying to do is provide some kind of historical justification for your basic concept (restricting how much money the U.S. can spend in each theatre).

It is only a surprise one time if the fleet all moved to sz 64 on the same turn that the Naval Base is built.    It could be interesting at the right moment in the right kind of game.  The Germans can not move troops from France to Russia as fast as the US can move thru the canal.

Maybe a a global game in which Japan needs the Hawaiian Islands to win and the Germans can not take Moscow.

I have faked builds on on side of the board and moved to the other in order to throw off Axis builds in other AA games.  Especially when I knew I needed two rounds to be organized.

I don’t think I’ll apply any change to pacific in the Global Game. And I bet I won’t be playing stand alone pacific '40 after euro 40 release, due to global playing.

But I’m sure I’ll like more the stand alone pacific 40 instead of the europe 40! So I guess I’ll apply the new adjustement only in the stand alone pacific.
