Do transports count?

what Hobbes is saying is 100% true.  But, where tanks become a real problem for the allies is on Persia.  Stack 8+ there and use German force to open Kazhak.  Even if the Allies know to look for it, the mere threat of it is often enough for them to give up the Caucausus complex.

Lots to think about here.  Thinking about the Polar Express and the entire game itself, the phrase, “For everything gained, there’s something lost” comes to mind.  If Japan is in W. Canada, it halts the US shuck, but if they’re in Asia, it forces Russia to spend more to defend against Japan.  Every game I play as Japan, the thought always crosses my mind to send my 4 transports to Alaska/W. Canada, but I can’t ever come to terms with it because of all those units you take away from Asia.  Even if the US was out of the picture in Europe because of having to deal with the polar express, I don’t see how Germany could overcome Russia and the UK by themselves anyway.

As far as simply bidding a Jap transport….that works well regardless of whether you go after the US or not.  It’s a win-win for Japan.  I just won an Axis game with that transport in SZ50 implementing a KRF.  It’s key to grabbing income very early on–income that you wouldn’t normally get a hold of that soon.  I was able to hold Africa for a while with Germany as well.  I admit, I was pretty fortunate to do that without the German bid.  Overall though, I definitely recommend bidding the Jap transport.

If Germany is building INF THAT heavilly, then you have lost the offensive against Russia and are trading much closer to the vest as Germany.  That means Russia poses a greater threat, and that Germany has to fight harder just to stay in the 30’s for income.

You cannot BOTH build all INF AND trade at the Archangel/WR/Caucuses frontier turn after turn as Germany.  Sorry, it just does NOT happen  unless MASSIVE dice fracks come into play early in the game (or unless the Allies are playing poorly).

I hardly see G trade Arch, except rnd 1, never WRU, and when G starts trading cauc thats bad for allies.

Once a transport unloads a unit, movement for the unit and the transport is done.

No “transport chains” as you describe them.

Yes, you can do the move described in the first post (move, then load, then offload).

I believe the theory behind not allowing transports to offload in two territories is the fact that deployment into significantly different areas will take time.  For example - if you have a division in Alaska, and another in Western Canada, and there are no enemies nearby, you could meet up halfway and get on a transport.  But if you are on a transport and offloading, that transport would have to sail to a different region to offload troops in any geographically significant other location.  So FUNCTIONALLY, the transport can only offload into one territory.

Here is a wild one…

Catholic Mass:  Allows Italy to ONCE call for the Pope to endorse Italy’s roll in the war.  If succesful (1 in 6 on die) would create 1 INF in every neutral nation that was largely Catholic, controlled by Italy.  Effected nations:  Spain, Argentina, Peru, Venezuala.  IPC amount for each effected nation raised to 1 each.

Scuttle Crew:  Would allow 1 INF to attack 1 Allied naval unit that PER INF that is adjacent to an Italian held territory containing INF (Italy specifies targets).  INF rolls normal attack (1 in 6) and if succesful sinks 1 Allied ship. Such attack preceeds normal attack round.  Failure is loss of Italy INF.
