Thats another company that missed a trick that they could make AA scale pieces, allowing people to buy them for that purpose.

Only if the GAME is inferior to AA. To me it is. If i don’t like the game its either a door stop or nothing but ‘pieces’ for other games that i will play. I got enough door stops.

I think Memoir 44 is a great game. Good expansions. It the ability to heighten the game play with 3D terrain that can be used with Tide of Iron as well if you devote the time to make it. Plus with Memoir 44 each battle is based on a battle from WWII with an explanation of what happened in the battle so a person can actually learn a little history while playing. Not too much of that with Axis and Allies although I do enjoy a game of AA42 once in a while.
I got Tides of Iron too ( 3 copies) but have not played it.

The map components and counters portion of Tide of Iron are pretty cool. I did not care for the gameplay or having to take figs out of bases. Something about the scale of the game is all wrong, just like the land based A&A minis. But the modular gameboards are top notch in that set.
Memoir '44 is a great board game.

The only game that I would consider having 2 copies of is AA42 only if IL’s big map was being used. I don’t mind playing on the OOB map so right now 1 copy is enough.

I think he also sells some of his games at profit, or at least holds them till he can. He probably buys 6 and sells 3 after a while.
I bought 3 copies of Axis and Allies Pacific 1940 for about $51 a piece, as well. I haven’t even opened them because I can play the game at my Axis and Allies club. I could sell now, or hold out for it to go out of print. I’m holding. If it doesn’t go out of print, and it goes into mass production and drops to $50, that’s okay. I can either break even or get stuck with 3 copies of a game I like anyway.
