Looking back. I probably should’ve selected Discourse as the forum engine. The deployment strategy, at the time, was more complex than I wanted. I had a grudge against Ruby on Rails projects (kinda still do). But the UI was clean. I bet the API is cleaner and less breaking. Making another change might cause more churn though.
Search disabled

I’m still seeing long queries in the database logs. The problem with long running queries is that when you get enough of them it can lock up the server and cause the 50x errors.
The most common long running queries are searches. I’ve disabled search to see if that helps. It will take a few days to gather data. In the meantime, use Google:
“site:www.axisandallies.org your_search_here”

I will likely enable a Google Custom Search widget later tonight or over the weekend so that you’ll have something useful for searching soon.
