Yinsh
-
Anybody ever play Yinsh? I got a copy years ago from a friend and finally broke it out the other night. My buddy and I learned the rules together and played one game. It was a fresh, classic game feel that wasn’t overwhelming, so we’d like to play again. I won, but am trying to figure out some strategies. Anyone have any?
For my first game, I placed (as white) in the very center, then a ring each SE and SW, then one two “spots” south, then one as far south on the edge as I could. I mainly ran blocks with the forward 4 and set up a line to easily convert a back row off the edge if I need it badly. I ended up securing 2 rings before my opponent and went more on the defensive. I eventually won by sacrificing some of my own tiles in a flip that left me with 2 opportunities to score the 3rd ring.

I think I have seen this game.

Looks interesting.
It is simple, fun and refreshing. Like a cross between checkers, chess, and that snake game on the computer.

The one that you control the snake eating things, which makes you longer and you have to avoid running into yourself. It’s not exactly the same but it reminds me of it.

Have you played any of the other games in that series?:

No I haven’t, but I’d like to check them out some time.

I have seen them at my local game store. I remember asking about one of them and the owner told me that it was a good game. I just can’t remember which one it was.
