Congrats on the successful funding! That’s no small feat, especially in the board game world. Looking forward to seeing more details on Song for War when you get the chance to share. Always interesting to see how different designers approach WWII mechanics, especially in the Med Theater, which doesn’t get as much focus. Good luck with the production phase, it sounds like quite the ride.

11. Now it is the Allied turn. The same procedure is followed as before. The defending CAP fighter shoots at the incoming planes, and they get to fire back.

13. Both planes select the same carrier group to go after. The ships miss their AA fire, so the planes are free to attack.

14. Both planes score a hit on the carrier and it is sunk. Planes must now return home.

15. Planes on both sides must land on their carriers. The US plane lost its carrier, and so must ditch at sea (destroyed). Both sides may reshuffle the composition of their groups. At this point, the Japanese player decides if they wish to retreat, and they choose to continue the battle instead. The Allies, however, choose to retreat, The Allied ships return to port and the Japanese fleet continues on its original mission.

@ryandascienti Looks cool, but I think Europe is both too crowded on absolute terms and having too small territories with respect to what most of the rest of the world has.

I think you would be better either further increasing the area Europe occupies on the map or decreasing the number of zones into which you have split this area. For example, you could represent England (comprising Wales) as a single territory (instead of the current two), have a single territory (instead of the current two) for northern Italy and have two territories (instead of the current three) for the Italian Peninsula, and so on.

The Urals are rather small mountains and are economically important as a source of minerals: I’m alway perplexed when I see anyone having them impassable.

Listened to audiobook on Thucydides’ History of Peloponnesian War. Has anyone played board game titled Hellenes: Campaigns of the Peloponnesian War? Would make a great multiplayer game. A&A has WWI, Napoleon, Punic 270 BC, variants, but not Peloponnesian Wars (Athens vs Sparta). Would be interested in working together with anyone willing to develop a Greek city state variant for this website.

Never played this one. Though I do own it because I got it for FREE, and had cool parts.

Same for me (except for the part about getting it for free).  I particularly like the standard infantryman, with the raised rifle and pith helmet, whose design fits nicely for possible use as a WWII British or French colonial infantry unit.  The size is just right, the detailing is pretty good and there’s a wide range of colours available. The single drawback is the rectangular base, since it contrasts so much with the round bases of the OOB and HBG units.

I was refering to regular ol’ Victory.  I have Pacific Victory but I haven’t played it.  It’s combat system is based on regular Victory.  It does look like an interesting game.

The 1917 game was fun!

I like the fact that you can upgrade units and the strategy you employ is different to win each battle.
