Thank you. Had not seen that and was unhappy to contradict Kriegkund, but could not see any difference with what I had said. Now I realise without a japanese DOW against UK/Anzac a Japanese player could have moved through an occupied sea hex on its way to a Dutch territory. Now it cannot. Though, of course, my way and knowing I was provoking war with UK/Anzac, I would have attacked them too and, therefore, not moved illegally through a sea zone . You have to love Japan.

UK/ANZAC and Japanese air units may fly over each other’s territories (outside of China) when they’re not at war.  The rules at the top of page 8 that apply to neutral territories apply only to neutral territories, such as the Mongolian territories.  Neutral powers have different rules, as outlined in the political rules.

Technically, Japan, China and UK/ANZAC are not neutral anyway, as they are each at war with someone (Japan and China are at war with each other, and UK/ANZAC is at war with Germany).  Only the US is truly neutral, as it is at war with no one.  That’s why its rules are even more restrictive than other powers’ rules.  While the US remains at peace, its air units may not fly over other powers’ territories, and vice versa.

That would be right.  Plus it is right for actual distances. When the Alaska Marine Highway system goes to Unalaska it takes a good week and basically disrupts its schedule to do it once every three weeks.

By plane while faster still has about 1,000 miles to travel from Anchorage to Dutch Harbor / Unalaska.

The simple thought of new players is why money should have been included. The experienced players don’t need the money. In the base AA42 game money should have been included as a learning tool. In the AA40 games the complexity goes way up. For a newer player the more help to simplify things the better. These games at the very least should have offered a tracking chart in the rule book that could be copied. I would suggest to newer players to use poker chips, money from other games, or make up a chart to track money including NO’s by nation.

That’s what I was assuming but for some reason it seemed odd. Compared to the old AAP, it gives the Brits/ANZAC a bit of an advantage over the Japanese.
