• I know this happened a month ago, but what do you guys feel about the Trent Lott situation?

Personally I think the Democrat and Republican parties both handled the situation like scared babies. Trent Lott was just complimenting a man at his 100th birthday. His speech didn’t have any racial overtones at all.

I think the Democrats were trying to use it for political gain. At the same time, I think any Republicans who didn’t support Lott were also in it for political gain.

To sum it up, this whole thing was a sad time in American politics. Barely half a dozen senators did what was right and said “He’s sorry, he was just trying to make an old man feel better”.

  • I agree.

The whole thing was blown completely out of perportion. Why should the average American care what compliment somebody made at a friend’s birthday party, and how someone else mis-construed it at racism. I actually felt sorry for Trent Lott for making a fool of himself. I mean, let’s be honest, he looked completely rediculous going on BET for that interview.

I guess the thing that pisses me off the most is that the liberal media tends to exagerate some things, but overlook others. How much did you hear about Senator Patty Murray’s remarks about Osama Bin Laden? None. Zilch. Nada. Are we now just picking and choosing who we’re going to attack?

  • The funny thing, and the thing you don’t hear from the media, is that Lott and THurmond were Democrats then, and for the next 16 years.

So Lott was just espousing Democratic Ideals. Its like he has a Terrets for expressing old Democrat positions.

  • Interesting, I didn’t know that! :P

I’ll have to pass that on to Mr. Hanley!
