One problem I’ve had with painting pieces is - what happens if you aren’t happy with the results? I’ve found a great solution I’d like to share with those who may not know about this. I painted these Zero fighters last year but was never fully happy with them.

The grey color was too dark for me. One option was buying new fighters, which I wasn’t thrilled about. Another option I tried was dipping them in brush cleaner, but the cleaner ate both the paint and the plastic underneath. Finally I found this solution online at a scale modeling site. It’s called Super Clean and a whole gallon can be bought at Wal-mart in the automotive section for about $8.00.

Put the Super Clean in a small glass jar with a lid and drop your painted pieces in.

The solution gradually works on the paint. It doesn’t matter if it is oil based or water based. It leaves the plastic alone.

After about six hours you can see the acrylic paint is just falling off - oil based takes longer - maybe 12-24 hours.

The remainder can be brushed off with an old toothbrush. You should wear gloves - the solution will irritate the skin.

And here they are - like new. Now they can be repainted…
