Scythe

Has anybody played Scythe?
Three-quarters of the way through the rules explanation, I knew I would like the game. After the first few rounds, I already wanted to play a second time.
It is a really well done game with “asymmetrical symmetry.” I think it has high replay-ability but I’ve only played twice.

I just realized only the Kickstarter folks have the game in hand. Anyway, post here if you’ve played it.

I’ve got it! I think I may have been the first in Canada to have it delivered … at least it felt that way when I posted about it on Facebook!
Or at least the first vocal one. lol.http://iwillnevergrowup.com/2016/06/28/review-scythe-from-stonemaier-games/

I have played 4 games so far, and I am really enjoying it. It blows away Blood Rage for euro-wargames. Each faction seems pretty well balanced, and there is a surprising amount of replayability given a fixed set up.

There were a number of stores that backed the Kickstarter as well and were selling it before many of the other backers got theirs. People got mad, but really … if the store was a backer, then they get it with everyone else right?
In any case, it’s quickly become a new favorite in this household.

Would love to try this, will you have your copy at FMG CON this month?
-
I ordered a “leftover” Collectors Edition yesterday.
I agree with the replayability. It also seems like it would lend itself well to expansions.
Since there is no new A&A content, I’m considering starting to cover other games like this.

Absolutely!

I considered FMGCon this year but looks like it won’t work out. Maybe next year. I wish Southwest would hurry up and fly to Canada.

If you come next year, I will have for you 6 bottles of beer from one of Ontario’s best micro breweries called 5 paddles brewery.

I kind of wish I went in on the Collectors edition instead of the lower tier. Those metal coins and “realistic resource” pieces are so nice.
Then again, they don’t affect gameplay so it’s just a nice upgrade to have. :) -

Stonemaier Games don’t do Kickstarter exclusive content, so everything is or will be available soon (if not now) through their website and/or other retailers.

Found this awesome “how to play Scythe” video with a run-through within the tutorial. Excellent production quality for a YouTube how to… should be very easy to learn Scythe with this vid.

You can buy upgrade kits for Scythe. So you can turn your regular edition into a Art Connoisseurs Edition if you are willing to lay the cash down for it. The only difference is the real editions have a collector’s number on it and it says “Art Connoisseurs Edition” underneath the title.
