I know I do! But in this case, it was more a function of risk vs reward. If I didn’t get 4+ hits in the first round, I just retreat. I’m still able to put up a decent defense.
But then I got 8 hits in the first round!

and I agree that going for one turn and eventually retreat was a valid option here.
However if it goes really bad (such as 2 or less hits for Russia and 6+ hits in defense) then Japan has a 95%+ counterattack and the Russian east is falling for good.Anyway, you guys fight your wars fiercely and ruthlessly, that’s for sure:D

I had to take some risks after that disastrous G1, losing so many planes. This game is over in both Europe and Japan.

If the battle in Manchuria was average and I got 5 hits the first round and you got 3, I would be invading Siberia the following turn, easily wiping out your 13 remaining troops and not fearing the Mongols. That would have completely changed the situation in Europe since you lose so much income without those territories.
Anyway, you had great strategy and great dice rolling. No way to recover at this point.
