  • The rule is that a plane can be sent to a sea zone where it theoretically can be recovered. It’s a lesson I have learned the hard way. But by all means check.


  • Yes but you ALSO have to rescue the plane if you can. The only time you can splash is if there is a blocker in the way and you are “creating” a landing spot by attacking the blocking fleet with a force that has no realistic chance of defeat it. Thus in the ncm, since you submarine didn’t defeat your opponents ‘Stack of DOOM’, your carrier can’t make it to the theoretical landing spot.

    If my interpretation of the rule is that an aircraft only need to be recoverable in theory, then, use the map I posted (i.e., do not move a CV to SZ 61).

    Page 22 of the Europe rulebook:
    “You must have a carrier move, remain in place, or
    be mobilized (new carriers only) to pick up a fighter
    or tactical bomber that would end its noncombat
    movement in a sea zone. You can�t deliberately move
    an air unit out of range of a potential safe landing
    space.”
