    Okay, a few more changes…

    • The “Reply to bid” feature now lives on its own page to make it easier to find
    • The default form has been simplified:
    • LTras (Loaded transports) have been removed. Now, if you want to save some transports to the end of your naval battle, use the “# of Atk. Tra / land units die last” option.
    • Tech units by default are excluded from the form. They can be enabled if you want them with a button that I added just for that purpose.

    Any chance you could add in a blank field for hits on a 5 or less for attack to cover Super Battleships and Dive Bombers?

    The option to enable/disable techs is sort of a first step on the road to enable/disable National Advantages. Hopefully in the next few weeks…

    I’m also thinking of having the form toggle between land/naval battles to reduce the number of fields that have to be shown at once. And with all of that I’ll have to fix the OOL handling so that you only have to include the actual units present/available in your OOL.

    My immediate priority right now though is finding a job…

    Fujitsu is always looking for programmers.  Then again, the work environment is incredibly high stress and the pay isn’t stellar.

    I have made the Game ID option more flexible on my site - you can now make the game ID up to 32 characters long and you can use letters and underscores in addition to numbers. Any illegal characters just get replaced with underscores. So you could have a game ID like “Jenn_vs_Mateooo” or whatever instead of just a number.

    Also, the Game ID is now functional for logging results whether or not a bid has been requested and not yet replied to.

    Kewl on the name thing, but we still need a field for hits on 5 or less.  :-D

    It could be a blank or listed as “extra dice” :)

    That’s for the “Most Powerful battleships”, right? Then it’s more than just hits on a 5, because the unit has to be treated as a BB in other ways.

    Doesn’t “Jet Fighters” Tech let fighters defend on a 5 as well?  Or is that tech only available in classic?

    In my sim, Jet fighters do defend on 5. If a unit is different in another ruleset, it will act differently. If it does not exist in that ruleset however it will still be available in the form, it will just use the default value from AA Revised that I initially built the page with. If the unit is not available - don’t use it!

    So far, I haven’t heard any complaints about not displaying the tech units by default - my guess is they are not commonly used. I may just lump all the tech/NA units together, so you either have a simple form, or a form with lots of units.

    Well, not this weekend - some other things have come up (including an FTF game with Mr. Ghoul and Cystic Crypt, pretty sweet)

    However, I have uploaded a slight update:

    • Dice sets display on separate lines
    • fixed minor glitch: battle round # was being incremented even if illegal combination entered.

    I know, that’s really exciting… but it’s all about attention to detail.

    Seperate lines could be neat.  Might make it easier to use.  Unfor, most of my current opponents havn’t given me email addresses so I havn’t had a chance to check your site.

    Hey Froodster, I like the dicey but my increasing years must be impairing my ability to understand how to use it.

    I wanted to SBR but it was not clear how I would do that.

    I ended up using a SS as a dummy target for the bombers but it was not an obvious approach.

    What do you recommend, what am I missing?

    Just enter 1 Bom for the attacker and check the AA box. The Bom roll is your damage and the AA roll is the AA roll.

    It won’t work without AA checked, so check it even if there is no AA and just ignore the AA result.

    No AA is what threw me.  I liked the Sub as the defender.  It definitely could not fire back!

    Akreider just pointed out that the links my bid page was sending out were not correct  :oops:

    This is fixed now, you should have no problems using the link in the e-mail to reply to a bid.

    Thanks to some diligent bug-hunting by Mircea Pauca of Romania, the following glitches have been found:

    1. Naval combats getting aborted when the defender had only air units remaining

    2. IPC differential calculating incorrectly when attacking destroyers were present

    3. OOL appears not to work in IE6 - I don’t have that legacy browser so I can’t verify.

    4. Also, JSP requested that I enable SBRs even without AA guns.

    I have fixed 1, 2, and 4.

    SBRs: just enter a single bomber for the attacker. Of course, ignore if aacalc says that it hit, because it will still roll for a target of 4. Add an AA gun if there is one. Previously, aacalc did not roll the die for the attacking bomber if there were no defending units and no AA gun present.
