i thought i can retreat air and bat and leave only the subs, but i could not.
and my subs missed all of their hits.
and ur defense was pretty good.

Yeah it’s retreat or continue, you can’t decide to leave some units in the fight. Exception is when part of the attacking force is amphibious.
i should of take subs as cas and keep my air alive. i had bad dice but i was greedy too and this is perfect comb for disaster
