The second Italian Facist regime : la Repubblica Sociale Italiana (RSI) was set up today, with its capital, not in Rome, but Salo, a small town in Lombardy on Lake Garda, Northern Italy, where the RSI had his Foreign Office.
Mussolini was its head, but it was nothing more than a German puppet, dependent on its military and financial support.
Mussolini had been rescued from captivity in a daring raid by a soon to be famous German SS Colonel, Otto Skorzeny on September 12th.
Italy had surrendered on the 8th and the Allies had landed at Salerno on the 9th and were fighting the Germans in the south of Italy at this time, though they had not yet captured the city port of Naples.
Addtions to Germany's 1939 military

Which of these would have best helped Germany win WW2?
-
None, basically they needed a new Fuhrer
-
I agree with Razor.
But if Hitler listened to his military advisors better then he could probably do with 150 u-boats. Sink all that is British and bleed them dry.

I agree with this statement

I agree with Razor as well. Hitler’s overriding decision making doomed the Reich.

Which addition, an serviceable escort fighter or long range 4 engine bomber would have helped win the Battle of Britain?
-
Either subs or more surface warships, the Royal Navy had to be taken out, or greatly reduced, then if the Generals led the war, the Brits would lose.
-
More panzers IV could have helped decide North Africa in 1940 aswell as giving the german army more punch in the 1941 invasion of the SU. If the Germans had had more panzer divisions they probably would have taken Moscow.
WW2 was won on the ground, and 1000 more PIV would have been invaluble.

A larger navy I think would have given the Germans a better chance at engaging the Royal Navy In a fleet battle…one of the mistakes that Grand Admiral Raeder made during the Battle of the Atlantic…was that he wanted to use his surface forces as convoy raiders…i never believed in that strategy…although the German Navy wasn’t as large as the Royal Navy…they still could have done some major damage to the Queen’s warships…Maybe Hitler should have tried Plan Z after all…

And it is a big difference if those German ships are new (build in 1939, or something), because a lot of British ships were older then that.
