Well I rarely attack both, and just because 95% of the people you’ve seen have done it doesn’t make it un-risky. I suppose the British players rarely scramble, too. I’ll just tell you - with that combat move it was a very easy decision to scramble everything.I’m trying to bite my tongue because I don’t think you’d like what I would say….

Attacking 110 and 111 both is risky
Pretty sure that happens in like 95% of games ever played. Wouldn’t really characterize it as risky.
I am afraid I have to second gamerman especially as you made two risky things in addition to just attack both seazones:
1. You greedily attacked 106 with 2 subs instead of taking a second sub to 110. This makes a huge difference in 110 and even gives you +1 attack on 111 because you can send both bombers there.
2. You decided to hunt the damaged battleships with naked air when in both seazones you had playable retreat options.
However it is a valid option to play a greedy G1 in order to hope to get lucky because one might think this is necessary to beat a superior opponent. However not getting lucky is a very substantial part in such strategies :-)
So far I cannot judge how risky the Germans have to be in G1 in balanced mode. Maybe its just the way the game is to go with no bid for the Axis in order to accelerate the pace as an economic win does not work anymore like in the classic mode.

I made one more post while you typed yours and then I promise I won’t bother you any longer and “allow” you to quarrel with the dice because :wink: - despite any analysis - the definitely wern’t your friend in G1, I just wanted to demonstrate that a suboptimal outcome is something we have to deal very very often with and tend to (including me) consider any suboptimal event a disaster.
So here is some analysis about the actual dice outcome in G1.
And in addition when it comes to the actual dice results:
Average attacker units left in 111 = 2,3 and 2,9 if won
Average attacker units left in 110 = 3,6 and 3,9 if wonYou had 4 units left = 2 units below average
However on the other hand you at least won both battles which were 80% and 92% = 26,5% that you lose at least one of these battles.So the dice were rather slightly below average in the sea battles and not a total disaster.
France was 5 TUV below average and losing 3 hits yugo is also 1 more than it should.
Normandy went perfect and 2v1 battles like 106 are always good when the transport is sunk regardless if the DD hit.Altogether the dice weren’t good in G1 but definitely not devastating (according to my opinion as those evaluations vary from player to player :-))
