That’s right - my song only applies to 2nd edition A&A by Larry Harris and co.
IIRC the first iteration heavily favored the Allies (No complex in Ukraine, a minor for Berlin, and richer USA jump to mind. Oh, and no separate theater victory conditions - that was the real killer)
Seriously, folks, the Axis are winning significantly more games than the Allies even with your +15 to +25 bids. I understand a lot of people don’t like to add a lot of stuff to the board to start the game, so you might take a page from the balanced mod folks’ ideas and add an NO or 3 to the Allies. You might want to modify Russia a little instead of the USA because the Russians are just a bit too weak in 2nd edition. One of the things the balance mod does is separate the no Allies NO from the Archangel NO so a single boat to 125 or a single Allied unit in Russia doesn’t stop Russia’s +5 NO. Another idea would be to supplement general Allied bidding with Russian bidding in infantry. Or add a bomber.
For example, bomber to Moscow and I bid 20
Or 4 infantry to Russia and I bid 20You might want to agree on a certain thing to Russia and then bid for UK or something. Just suggestions.
We’ve had hundreds of games of 2nd edition played now with bids of 15-25 to the Allies, and the Axis are still winning 55% (2015) or 60% (2016) of the gamesI don’t know…. might be interesting to try getting rid of the split theater winning conditions and make Axis get a certain number of VC’s worldwide. Take away the bid to the Allies… maybe make a couple other tweaks… food for thought
The balanced mod kept the split theater victory conditions (for those of you who don’t know anything about this mod yet). Not saying this as a positive or negative, just a fact

I just caught a mistake in the rankings - Arthur Harris was listed with 4 losses instead of 5 - his points were right but not total games, so his PPG is corrected and he is tier 1 instead of tier E, so this will result in corrections to his past opponents as well….
OK - done - it actually only affected a couple of his opponents.
I rechecked several different point totals and they were all correctMainly wanted to let Harris know why he dropped without a result
Crud, similar error with Roboto, so he drops a bit (to the correct PPG) but at least it’s not a tier change

Or just play Balance Mod, and save yourself the trouble of using edit mode every round to adjust PUs. With a 50/50 Axis to Allies win ratio (26 BM games played so far), seems like it is pretty darn close to hitting the sweet spot.

Not disagreeing, but no edits necessary unless you’re adding or changing NO’s.
A fixed bid of units to Russia plus a variable bid gives a bit more to the Allies without as much prerogative to the bid winner and no editing
But yeah, especially if you’re tired of 2nd edition at ALL, switch to the balanced mod

If accurate ratings are desired, then we should use 2 game series with the same bid for all league rated play. Same with balanced mod games.
The way the league ratings are structured, E or M players are to some extent disincentivized from playing Allies because that threatens their ability to make the playoff.
Experience = higher bids. Masters and elites are getting easy Axis wins against overly low bids. The solution is 2 games at an agreed upon bid.

I disagree Zhukov. I don’t mind playing with the allies and I am certain I am not the only M E tier that is willing to do that, but I do want a high bid to play with them. The basic game just favors the Axis to much. So the allies need the bid, but we all know this already and have known this for quite some time. Secondly. Complaining about overly low bids is pointless. It takes two to tango.
