IIRC the first iteration heavily favored the Allies (No complex in Ukraine, a minor for Berlin, and richer USA jump to mind. Oh, and no separate theater victory conditions - that was the real killer)
Seriously, folks, the Axis are winning significantly more games than the Allies even with your +15 to +25 bids. I understand a lot of people don’t like to add a lot of stuff to the board to start the game, so you might take a page from the balanced mod folks’ ideas and add an NO or 3 to the Allies. You might want to modify Russia a little instead of the USA because the Russians are just a bit too weak in 2nd edition. One of the things the balance mod does is separate the no Allies NO from the Archangel NO so a single boat to 125 or a single Allied unit in Russia doesn’t stop Russia’s +5 NO. Another idea would be to supplement general Allied bidding with Russian bidding in infantry. Or add a bomber.
For example, bomber to Moscow and I bid 20
Or 4 infantry to Russia and I bid 20
You might want to agree on a certain thing to Russia and then bid for UK or something. Just suggestions.
We’ve had hundreds of games of 2nd edition played now with bids of 15-25 to the Allies, and the Axis are still winning 55% (2015) or 60% (2016) of the games
I don’t know…. might be interesting to try getting rid of the split theater winning conditions and make Axis get a certain number of VC’s worldwide. Take away the bid to the Allies… maybe make a couple other tweaks… food for thought
