Why building them for 5 instead if Inf/arty?
Marines turn your capital ships into mini troop transports. So if you happen to have a cruiser or battleship on hand (as every nation does at the start of the game), buying a marine is like buying an artillery powered unit and transport in one.

I got the download working - I think. I see some of the new NO’s, but several are missing. Is this normal? Does the game still do them all correctly but just doesn’t show them all? For example, I see the “northern” route for Russia for 2 IPC’s but none of the others.
I loaded up my game with Ghostglider and the new NO’s (although, again, not all of them) are showing. I thought it would have no impact on the 2nd edition regular game…

It is normal if you are in a regular G40 game. If you’re in our game, you should see all of the NOs listed.
The objectives panel is purely cosmetic. It has zero impact on playability of either version. The game will calculatesthe NOs correctly regardless of what the Objectives Panel says they are (or even if there is no objectives panel at all).
If you want the original objectives panel back, just replace the “Objectives.Properties” file in your “triple/maps/world war ii global” directory with the original file: https://www.dropbox.com/s/92pk24wag4uy5ak/objectives.properties?dl=0

Can Allied ships non-com into Z93 when there are Vichy French boats there? Like powers that aren’t at war with one another?
No. After the Vichy Change, the ships are hostile to allies. You can move ships there while they are still french. When the Vichy event occurs, the ships will turn to pro-axis neutral, and the sz will become contested (so the allied ships must leave or fight on their next turn)

control convoy lanes is the 3 med islands objective - malta, crete, cyprus (its poorly named, i agree)
But I don’t control them all
Crete is pro-Allied, not allied controlled, so take 3 IPC’s away from me unless the NO isn’t stated correctly and pro-Allied is good enough (like Sweden for Germany)
Objective is stated correctly in game notes: “3 PUs if Malta, Crete, and Cyprus are Allied or Pro-Allied controlled.” so you’re good to go :)
