@Avner Boo. I can’t access the dice server! Stucifer posted earlier that this was a problem. I guess we’ll have to delay.

Adam (axis) over PGMatt (allies, balance)
http://www.axisandallies.org/forums/index.php?topic=37056.new#new
It was an interesting experience and one I would try again…but not with so strong a player. Adam in reality had the game in about 4 rounds.

Hope you don’t mind, Matt -
This is what I’m talking about. Games between players that are 3 tiers apart (assuming they’re in the right tier, which is less likely for a player with only 2-5 games played but much more likely when 10+ like Adam has) are not competitive.
So to the occasional complaint that the point system provides a disincentive to play someone who is several tiers lower than you, I again say that that should not be considered a problem. It would be extremely rare to have a competitive game between players who both have 6+ games completed and are 3 or more tiers apart. Not saying they shouldn’t happen - they can be fun for the winner and educational and fun for the loser. I have played multiple non-competitive games over the years - I rarely turn down a challenge from another player. Just saying don’t whine about your PPG dropping when you knowingly played someone who can’t beat you 10% of the time.

Another fantastic game. WP, adam, as always.

lebowski (axis) over MrRoboto (allies) in my first balanced mode game.
The missing bid at the beginning really hurts, but I played badly too. -
How many allies and how many axis wins so far with the ballanced mod?
-
Look to the far right of the spreadsheet. Not enough data yet. It’s close, if I caught all the results.

PGMatt (axis) defeats Pherman121 (allies +22), forfeit loss for inactivity.

Mr.Roboto Allies Balanced over Karl&
dice game. nothing more.

I beg to differ :-P
Sadly, Mr. Roboto may be right. I calculated the critical battle on DS Kelly and it said 60ish%. After I lost horribly, and at Mr. Roboto’s assertion, I recalculated on the internal battle calc. It said 48% or so.
Is the DS Kelly battle calc not reliable?

I think the calc on A&A.org and the Triple A calc are the best, but none are perfect, not that I know of.
If it’s an important calc, I am running it about 3 different ways with 3 different calcs. Plus I developed my own crude one on a spreadsheet because it’s the only one that I can see what is actually happening with the units round by round (especially for big mixed fleet, air, destroyers, subs, capital ships)
They all have their flaws. A big problem I have with the Triple A calc is it ALWAYS takes a hit to all capital ships first and you can’t stop that. Sometimes you don’t want to do that, so the calc will be off. Just one example.

Karl7, I offer you to redo your move without that attack and we continue the game. If gamerman consents.
-
If we’re gonna talk much more about calcs I guess we should take it to the league discussion thread
I have more problems with the Triple A calc that I am willing to shareNEVER trust the UK Pacific on defense calculations especially if there are AAA guns. Always change the power to some other Allied power and then enter in the units.
ALWAYS be wary of any calc doing a naval/air/sub/destroyer battle. Triple A calc sometimes goes funny when transports are involved. Sometimes a good idea to remove the transports from the calc

Thanks, but you don’t need my permission, FYI. If both players agree, most anything goes except for counting more than one game result for one single game

wow, too nice! Ok, but you’ll probably win anyway.
The “balanced” is pretty harsh on the Axis. It does require new thinking.

After review the game is over anyway. The Axis were set up for the attack. It not succeeding is the end.
