• Been a LONG time since we had one of these threads (over a year)…

Some up-and-coming posters on the boards…

Jen slipped into second place sometime not too long ago, surpassing CC, but still 1500 behind me.
JSP is working hard on cracking the Top 10, and is in 12th.
Darth is slowly working on hitting HB, just over 500 to go.
Janus is an Aircraft Carrier now
    And Zooey made Fighter

Tekky is moving up fast with all of his contributions to AAHRE and has reached 30th since just March of this year.

NoMercy and U-505 are also new members in 2006 who are rising fast due to games played on the site.

Amon-Sul, a member for 2 years, has been far more actively lately in several areas of teh site and is rising steadilly.

And Nix and Sankt Hallvard, more 2006 members, are gaining fast due to games played.

Since the last time an “up an comers” thread has been done, there HAS been a serious shift in what it takes to be advancing fast on the board post rankings.  Now it is the GAMERS who are moving up quickly.  Looks like I started a trend in that department :-P

BTW:  for anyone curious, I STILL have not reached my 1 year anniversary, but I am getting close.  I think 8000 posts in the first year is a record that may stand for a long, long time :-D

So are you saying you are long winded, or just full of hot air?  :-P

    Heheh.

I’ll get on there next time around ^^

  • Hey, I don’t think I’m doing too bad considering I’m not gaming.  That’s not by choice though, I prefer the physical layout rather than the virtual map, just couldn’t accommodate all those pieces for very long (damn people & dogs!).  :| Someday I’ll get in there - after all, the game brought me to the site…

You should.  I admit that battlemap takes a while to get used too, but I actually prefer it to a physical board now.  Heck, for one you don’t have to count up 48 white chips and 27 red ones to find out how many infantry are on Moscow!  And moving a stack is as easy as cntrl-shft-left click drag!  No pieces to knock over, no toddlers to hide the board from…no beer stains on the board, no nacho cheese dip on the money…nice!

  • @Jennifer:

no beer stains on the board no nacho cheese dip on the money

My board is so old, I use beer stains for countries.  And dried cheese chips for money.  It’s a Kentucky thing…

    Would Colonel Sanders approve?

  • I dont know if its a record, but except for a few stray posts in Other Games, the entirety of my posts have been in General Discussion (Which encompasses Political Discussion, since when I joined, they were one board)

  • That is not a good thing Janus.

It is a GAMING site.  so have a game, or three :-D

  • Never once played Axis and Allies in my life. Wait, thats a lie. I started a game once (after a very hasty description of the rules) with four friends, only for all of us to abandon it shortly after to do something else (those friends, BTW, play Axis and Allies). I came to this site not for the AA, but for the discussion forum, as recommended to me by friends: DasEwokSS, who some may remember, and Yanny.

  • I used to game like a fiend on this site, but school/residency just took over my life so i couldn’t in good conscience keep playing as i had difficulty finishing games.
One day i’ll try a game again.  Just a matter of temporing my schedule.  Also i’m used to the classic A&A - havn’t tried the revised yet.

  • Come to the Dark Side CC!

Even Maddog is in my game queue for a Revised game, and Darth has also switched over (like it is a surprise that Darth went to the “dark side”  :-P )

  • I need Mr. Ghoul to purchase the game and challenge me to a round.  Either that or i need to convince my g/f’s kid that he enjoys it - shouldn’t be too hard . . . .

Why not convince your girlfriend and have more “quality time” together?  A nice wargamming session followed by some after-math makeup cuddling!

For me, foreplay has a slightly (read: vastly) different activity attached to it . . . .

  • I would have to agree…

Though OCCASIONALLY there IS plastic involved

    Are you talking about bidding?

Finally, the thread subject manifests itself…

For me, Axis and Allies IS foreplay.  The rest is required activities to keep the husband bringing home his paycheck. :)
