  • Japan was irrelevant (i.e. merely surviving) and Leo believed he was going nowhere with Germany.

    If there was some way Japan could have been relevant in the situation we now find ourselves Seb I would love to hear it.

    Of course the trick is not to get yourself into that situation! Still have in mind the J1 DoW being okay if J then takes India thought and someone has now done that against me so will be ready with that for a future game.

    Where is the best spot to launch strategic bombing runs as the allies?

    For Japan it would have to be Iwo Jima, Okinawa or the mainland.

    Bombers taking off from Guam and Wake Island (each with an AB) can also land in the above territories.

    Never done it and find it hard to imagine I ever will. The USA’s starting ipcs can buy 1 AC, 2 figs and 2 DDs, for example. Four bombers attacking such a fleet would have a 14% chance of success.

    The bombers advantage is movement. That is unlikely to be advantageous until US2 or US3, as others have pointed out. Even then the US’s primary need is often to add defence (ACs & figs) and blocking (DDs) power to its fleets, so that they can be safely forward deployed as a threat.

    I look forward to playing against an opponent who proves me wrong!

    I just dont know how to teach leo and adam the rules… they are more complex than A&A i say… although the online engine prevents game errors or unallowee moves.

  • Bear in mind Seb that I’ve never played it either! Its long been on my purchase list along with Twilight Struggle, but never got round to it. Hopefully this birthday/Christmas. When I do get it Adam and I can learn it in our monthly sessions (although is it any good two player?).

    I’ve just got a £50 reward at work, but I’m going to contribute that towards Star Wars Rebellion which looks incredible, and is also very highly rated on BGG.

    I think it would be a shame if we stopped playing Global 1940 but is Leo too busy nowadays? Maybe if we adopted a slower pace without the relentless pressure to take a go as soon as it was your turn might help?
