I thought about that and we might do it for a future tournament. But I think the Auction bid is the fairest way to pick sides and gives players an opportunity to play their “favorite” or “best” side if they wish, since you can always bid lower or stop bidding. But if this tourney is successful then we might do a bomber bid one or something as an alternative.

No optional rules.

And we are using the +3VC from the FAQ. Axis need 9, Allies need 10. However a player can surrender at anytime (just lost a capital or something).

At this point, only if it were in Aug or Sept.  We can tackle other holidays as we get to the later tournament rounds.  And as long as you let your opponent know.  Once we get started I’ll have a tournament discussion thread open too.  And that could be a spot where players say when they are going to be gone etc.
