• i have never played with victory cities in AA50 and don’t plan to atm.

    Do you play with VCs?

    why/why not?

What impact do you think is has on the game?

  • VCs are not relevant, b/c I and my opponents always play 15 VCs, so the VCs are not deciding the game, when a player think he/she can’t win they concede. I have never played an AAR or AA50 which was decided by VCs.
I have never achieved 13 VCs in any AA50 game, and neither have any of my opponents.

  • we always play 18 vc’s so it’s almost always total war

  • You’re right, as the OOB rules say 15 is the standard game, so VCs are a non-factor because if you have all but 3 of them, it’s been over for awhile.  Even the 12 or 13 (projection) seems to be quite decisive, since you have VCs in places like Honolulu and Ottawa.  If you have 12 or 13 it’s normally pretty much locked up.

So far I’m like takerwwe5849 and Subotai and yourself - VCs are a non-factor.  However, there do seem to be possibilities with them, since they’re marked on the map and we have the tokens.  For example, you could scrap the current NO’s and make your own, involving victory cities.  Just brainstorming.

  • i think it would be really cool if you got a bonus for capping a specific vc, like an ipc bonus for the turn you capped it or maybe being able to place units on the territory if it had an ic on it

  • I use them in face to face games. My favourite setup in those cases is: 1942, NOs, techs on, 13 VCs. That’s for time reasons: if we cannot reach 13 VCs, then the side with more at end of time wins

It works well, it’s the only way of ending the games in FTF
