Imperious Leader is right. The rules of A&A have evolved over the years, but each game was designed to work with the rules that existed at the time. You can always experiment with using the new rules on older games, but the result may not be balanced properly.

i have both still like playing the old one sometimes… It is the new one from 2004.

Sorry, not much help on the 2004 game.
I used to have it, but I don’t know where mine is anymore. I wasn’t a big fan of that version.
Maybe someone else has patch or a work around for ya.

As far as I know there isn’t a newer version then the 2004 one.
I think mostly online play, which there are various tools available to make it easier.
For instance, I believe this Club uses the old 1998 CD for Online play:

Whereas others like to Play by Email.
My only suggestion might be to try here, the atari tech support, maybe they can email you a code???
