Still want to comment about dice? :-p
part of it was frustration from my other games all going about the same. defenders were hitting like 80-90% on attrition rolls @2. in one sequence, 12 out of 12 @2 or lower (defending sub hit) when I attacked with what would be auto kills with LL.
but what just happened here still doesn’t make up for some of the dicing prior. I came out like 4-5 infantry ahead. in the prior japanese turns I lost 2 straight 85% battles to take those islands and get the ipc bonus. combined with not even hitting, that’s like a 1/64 event. then there was that 98% italian battle I lost against your destroyer where I lost 34 ipc worth.
Yeah dice can be maddening. Definitely been on the wrong side of them many times.
