@simon33 Pinned posts are not obvious enough. @Gargantua mentioned this too.
New Servers
-
I apologize, I misunderstood the issue at hand, and am having the same problem as everyone else. As soon as I post via tripleA, I get logged out as well.
OF INTEREST:
I posted via tripleA, and then logged in several minutes later (20+ min)
Upon logging in, I immediately posted and got the “You can’t post within 15 seconds” error, despite the fact my last post was over 30 min ago via tripleA.
Don’t know if that’s part of the equation here? But I find it odd.
-
In case this helps with the diagnosis process:
- I’ve never used tripleA or played by forum
- I use the forum either by logging in or by visiting it without logging in
- I haven’t had any problems with the new forum software
-
I’m transferring files to S3. The site might be a touch slow for a little while.
However, since the db and web server are on separate servers now, it shouldn’t be too bad.
-
So TripleA logs us out.
And even though I log back in, I have to log back in to all my other computers separately.
I wonder if TripleA is somehow invalidating existing cookies? or whatever info is storing login information? Or that the new Server no longer recognizes the old cookie?
-
This is likely the case. Not much I can do about it right now. TripleA needs a better way to authenticate. :|
-
But TripleA did not log the users out from the forum when the old servers were used?
-
True. After I moved to the new server, I was finally able to install new updates to the forum. I’m going to hazard a guess that one of these updates broke things – or it’s actually a feature. :|
-
Well, would it make sense to contact Veqryn about it? May be he can easily fix this on tripleA side?
-
I’m going to take a quick look at the code and see if anything looks strange. I think it just emulates what you would do in a browser though, so it’s odd that only TripleA is affected.
I’ve verified that TripleA isn’t touching the browser cookies, so the session is definitely getting invalidated on the server side when TripleA posts. But since this doesn’t happen when you post from another browser, there must be something unique in how TripleA does it.
-
What type of portal (or whatever) does TripleA log in through?
-
It just basically loads the website like you would in a browser, but parsing the output directly instead of rendering the pages. So it’s not really doing anything weird in that respect.
Nothing popped out as being strange when I looked at the code. Unfortunately I don’t have time to get the whole project set up for debugging, so I can’t really contribute with more than that at this time.

What is happening today?
axisandallies.org has been off for hours.
“404 Not Found” has always been coming up when trying to browse the forum.
Still the updates?
:?

Not sure what happened, restart fixed it.

This issue just happened to me and at least one other player before me:
Clicked “post turn summary” in TripleA… after a pretty long wait (longer than normal) it came back with an “unknown error.” I checked the game thread to see if it posted anyway, and it had not. Reposted the turn, and then the posting was accepted. Both postings now show up.

The result is at the very top of page 6 (which is where the link will take you). I didn’t know if anyone was troubleshooting these things, so I thought I’d give you a heads up. The real issue is that if this problem is consistent that we will be doubling the number of posted saves, which doesn’t sound like a good thing…
-
The search engine is also broken.
You fill in a search at the top of the screen, and suddenly you see text on top of text, as the forum page does not refresh, but the search is displayed overtop of it.

It happened again today… 404 for hours…

I hate to say it… but there has been nothing but problems since the switch to the new server… :? and there seems to be no end in sight.
Was there a reason for the switch? can we switch back?
-
Since we switched to the new forum software, I haven’t been able to post any picture attachments successfully. The system gives me the attachment option, but when I use it the system gets hung up and what gets posted is a faulty file that doesn’t open. I’ve tried using two different browsers (I.E. and Chrome) and it failed to work in both cases. Has anybody else run into this problem?
