Look at the game notes and let me know your interpretation of those rules.

I got a rule question - how did the retreat rule work for troops in transport? In AAA, once I unload the troops to a land, unlike regular battle the system would not let me retreat but force me to fight until one side is all killed :cry:. Is this correct behavior?

Since the troops never got to start the fight against the East Indies, it was the transports that retreated.
But if I started a battle in East Indies you are correct that I could not have retreated.

Hmm, so if the transport retreats in the combat phase, you can not move the infantry off the transport in the following non combat phase? If so I need to remove 4 inf from India :|
I read the rulebook page 13, but it does not say anything about that situation. (unloading in the NCM phase after a retreat for transports)

Umm… good question… let keep the infantries in India and keep playing. We can clarify and follow the rule in future game once it is clarified.

I found the explanation, in Page 13 under Transport session:
I suggested let keep the india infantries for this game though, considering that’s part of your original game plan and it would be a big difference without this 4 infantries reinforcing India. Plus I have upper hand on this area already with the horrible sz dice rolls :lol:
