do they get to choose each round how they will spend that money,

or is it chosen at the start of the game how the brits will spend the points between india and australia²

Those rules make yours a completely different game. So, I don’t really have much to add from a strategy perspective. It’s not really AAPacific at all. It is simply an A&A-type game played on the AAPacific map. Sounds like fun, though.

Alright I hear a bunch of people talkin about how Pacific is tilted in the Japanese favor, but I don’t see it that way. Maybe its because I am to historically oriented and i feel I have to fight all my enemies at the same time, and also my dice rolls are usually pretty unlucky. I also think though that it is because many people play the victory points and I dont see how that is in anyway historically acurate because the allies wouldn’t have just called it quits if Japan had captured enough territory where they were an economic power or what not, and also I don’t think the allies would have called it quits if India or Australia or the US was captured by the Japanese or any combonation of two of the capitols. If that makes any since.

I generally have a hard time keeping all of the sub rules straight between the 4 games that use them :x which I find frustrating. If Guadalcanal is going to have subs I’m in big trouble.

Sometimes I have to tap my head with the heel of my hand to shake the correct rule out. :roll:

Nope! Yesterday I decided to give it a shot in the AAP game I was playing while I was Japan. It worked nice. The british were to worried about defending India to attack me at Yunnan and the forces at szchewan were easily defeated. From my first turn and for a long time I had forty IPC’s and put a bomber on Szcehwan every turn pounding the Indians, I even used one for a SBRaid to take away the sorry 8 dollars India had. I won by taking India!

you can get victory points by taking over a capital. think of it this every time you physically receive 10 ipcs you get a victory point. every time you physically lose 10 ipcs you lose a victory point.

Whenever the British player collects his income he will get 12 IPCs from his convoys (if he controls all of them) as soon as this is collected it must be given to or split between Australia and India. These 12 IPCs are also given at the begining of the game with the starting income at which point the British player must dispurse the money between the two powers as he sees fit.

Yes you’re right and that I guess is my problem. When you get right down to it the japanese were simply out of their minds . nevertheless the VP system is silly there has to be a better way to mimic historical goals. Japan did know it had to project enough power to make the U.S. (in their ninds) come to terms. The fact that we never would have done that is irrelevent though for Japan in history as in the game has a hard time doing much of anything but hang on in the face of U.S. industrial power.However the concept that china is worthless to the Japanese seems untrue to me . again I will close with a thought that through our new computer age you could easily create a scenario where all had the same map but had to discover for themselves where the enemy is making alliances all the more important etc. It better mirrors reality. What if we did not know what the other nation was producing necessarily or when and where? We all learned the rules before puberty when we played war in the woods, the key was not the most guys but the best, build good defenses and sneak up on the other guy find out what he’s doing and ambush him. Simple as this if you can’t ambush the outcome is solely tied to the card game war not real war strategy. Oh god I just ruined this damn game for myself AAAAGGGHHHHHH!!!

basically, if an American fighter is on a British Air craft Carrier, it can defend if attacked, but its just dead weight if the Air craft carrier goes on the offensive.
