Karl7 (Axis) over Shin Ji (Allies +14)
http://www.axisandallies.org/forums/index.php?topic=35335.new#new
I was sure I had him - Japan was taken care of for good, and a massive invasion force was already in Europe. But with the European Axis holding all of Russia and Egypt, there was just no way to compete with that kind of money. Add in Japan’s (rather impressive) airforce aiding in the defense, and it’s a recipe for an Axis win.

Shin Ji is too generous. He was killing me in the Pacific by excellent moves, but then Germany attacked the Soviet stack in a desperate bid to open up the eastern front and it worked. Moscow soon fell, and the German position was secured by the fleeing Japanese air force.
This is was a dice game that turned more or less on one battle going my way that shouldn’t have…

Too many bombers!

Somebody needs to come up with a good answer to the all-bomber German strategy, or else I think the game is flawed. The bombers reach everywhere and pretty much axis Europe becomes unapproachable…some have suggested to just go all out on Japan, but I have doubts that a VC loss in Europe would not result in that case.

Yeah DizzKneeLand has more than 30 bombers at the moment in his game against me. It’s a real problem.
I have a possible solution:
Going for Japan only with USA. After defeating Japan, the US could ignore the Atlantic ocean and send the transports to the Middle East via Pacific.
Think about it.
USA needs 3 turns to Egypt via Atlantic (Gibraltar West, Gibraltar East, Egypt).
USA needs 4 turns to Egypt via Pacific (Hawaii, Australia, Sumatra (with harbour), Iraq/Persia).It takes only one more turn. With this strategy USA doesn’t need to build a second fleet for the Atlantic to protect transports from bombers. It should work

One more game in the long list of games I should have won in this season. I had way more IPC, way more income and a strong position on him. I even could have easily prevented the loss of London by securing it with planes. At the end I overlooked the fact, that he will capture London with 1 transports (!) and 30 bombers.
I will hereby forfeit all my league games. I’m obviously not in the state of mind to play concentrated. I’m moving next week, my partner and me are expecting a child in a couple of months and I have a new job. Too much stuff going on for me to play on a high level.
I will come back in September for the next season. Have fun!

I’ll take that! Thanks for your offer of ritual Seppuku, Mr Roboto, my league stats needed it!

Well roboto, we’re gonna miss you! I know how you feel though. If you recall, after finishing my debut season at 7-0, I kicked off this new season with 5 straight losses, and that was helped greatly by blunders made while trying to play under great stress (wife and I had severe conflict over my excessive gameplay, which we have since worked out). It really is very hard to concentrate when there’s a lot going on in life. Hope everything works out and we get you back next season!

http://www.axisandallies.org/forums/index.php?topic=35095.msg1379272#newLoaded up carriers? It worked for me v. American mass-bomber with Japan. I think the solution is making sure to keep the income down enough that they can’t mass produce them and crush the Reds at the same time. They’re a high dollar unit with a lot of offensive ability, once they hit a certain number they’re at critical mass. Force the Axis player into using them (and chip away at their numbers) early on if you sense mass-bomber?
