Can land units attack sea units?

Can Destroyers attack land units?

If you attack units in an adjacent sea zone to an hostile occupied territory, can the land/air units attack the sea units?

2. Only with Consolidated Bombardment, and then only one shot with each amphibious landing

To further clarify, Germany may move out of the sea zone in combat movement even if its ships end up in a friendly sea zone. Moving to avoid combat in this situation is considered a valid combat move.

Yes, this is legal, as long as the sea zone in which the transports are loading units is friendly.

@Kaine:

Further (and related) are there ANY restrictions on movement caused by starting in a hostile zone rather than a friendly?

The movement must be done in the Combat Movement phase. It must follow all of the rules for Combat Movement, except that it need not end in combat.

The page 7 reference is to the chart at the bottom of the page called “Spaces on the Game Board”. It defines an island group as a game board space. A land territory is also defined as a game board space, so the definition on page 8 of an island as a territory located inside a sea zone also defines it as a separate game board space.

There’s also this FAQ entry:

Can a fighter take part in a naval battle in a sea zone and then in a battle for the island in that sea zone?
No. The island is not part of the sea zone; it’s a different map space that is adjacent to the sea zone but not part of it.
