Am I being stupid, by the way? I decided to retreat from the battle after one round as I got your DD with the 3 Subs. I presumed my surviving two Subs could submerge, instead they were not offered the option to submerge, only retreat with the Air units.
Will check the Rulebook, as I wanted to live Subs in Sz97, obviously.
Can you remember if I have the option to remain in the SZ and only retreat the Air units? I am probably mixing up amphibious landing rules, when Air can retreat, as can ground units that did not come by sea.

Not sure, what is protocol. If I can, I would rather keep the two Fts and lose the Subs.
All 3 Fts on Malta, I suppose.
You have played more AAA League, please say. -
The thing is with subs and submerge is that it happens at the beginning of a combat round where the retreating happens at the end. And the A&A rule states that all units that can retreat must restreat. Thus if you wanted to let the subs stay in the zone you should have takan another round of combat where they start with submerging and then fight through with the rest of the troops and if any left they can retreat in the end of that combat round leaving the subs in the sz.
About your casulties is fine with me. No problem at all. Should I just edit it and take the Italian turn?

As I retreated, is probably better that the Subs are taken as (cheaper) losses.
Please remove the two Subs and place 2 Fts in Malta.
