I have consulted with the ghost of Alexander and he has advised me to accept the short one’s offer of cease fire from France. However, he warns not to trust him very much and to keep my head on a swivel no matter what I do!

If at war with a nation and  you want to stay at war, you do not need to do anything. Notice I did not mention Austria and the Turks, as I am happy to continue At War.

The adviser’s to his royal majesty have advised offering a cease fire to the UK during these troubled times.  Other countries may tremble in anticipation of a mighty Spanish armada sweeping their way in ten turns or so.

Ask for any Ceasefires you would like with nations with which you are At War (you already have one with me) or DOW any nation.

If,however, you plan an Alliance with another nation (and you have approached them by PM), you will need to ask for Open Borders.
That is half way to an Alliance from Ceasefire. ( Ceasefire to Alliance takes two turns.)

Open Borders means you and the other nation can move through each other’s territories.
You do not defend together until Allied.

Please consult the game file to see your Politics with other nations.

By the way everyone, I did a little Political experiment and discovered that you cannot go from Open Borders to War in a turn.
It is two turns.
It is Open Borders- Ceasefire- War.

Open Borders is not as dangerous an option as I feared.
