what you are seeing in tripleA is the local version done to match the actual dice - since i did it so quickly i forgot the bombers but the bombers were there in the real action. whiffing like crazy along with everything else. same thing happened in my game with wittman (1 hit round 1 and loss of a ftr) - geez what are the chances.

OK, as discussed, we will play this game by the rulebook, official FAQ, and errata - for consistency.
This means the loophole is not closed - You can move ships away from a hostile zone to avoid combat in the combat movement phase, but you cannot move ships away from a non-hostile zone (subs/transports) during the combat movement phase unless those ships are going to participate in combat or anticipate a scramble elsewhere. Again, playing by the rulebook, official FAQ and errata as written, not as “intended”.
