I’ve been conversing with Vold, I think in general the right thing to do each time in a game is without technology, is skip any intercept when you have fewer interceptors than the total of bombers and escorts.

That’s been my experience too, but it’s also a factor of how you weigh the value of your planes compared to those of your opponent.
