Bought D Day Sealed, but there is no UK Blonde Units

  • @SS:

I have 5000 pieces. Do I count as a junkie.

It certainly starts you off in the right direction.  :-)

Top picture looks like mine. So I have the cream color. Sorry about that John Brown. I thought they were white. Thanks CWO Marc.

No problem man, I’m just glad I didn’t have to hunt for white ones as well, LOL. :-D

    @CWO:

Here are the four pictures I took last evening of the “blonde” (or cream or ivory or off-white) British infantry sculpt from the original printing of D-Day.  It’s the piece in the centre.  For colour comparison purposes, I placed it on a white 3x5 index card, with a Global 1940 light beige British infantry piece on the right and a stark white colonial infantry unit from War: Age of Imperialism on the left.  The four lighting conditions I used were: direct sunlight (first picture, top), open-shade daylight (first picture, bottom), fluorescent lighting (second picture, top) and electronic flash (second picture, bottom).  As you can see, the lighting greatly affects the apparent colour of the pieces.  Just in my own opinion, I’d say that the open-shade picture gives the most accurate rendition of the colours, and that the shot taken in fluorescent lighting is the least faithful one.

Thanks for taking those pics. The lighting makes a huge difference!

LOL, likewise. I’ve been checking ebay the last couple of days.

Well I bought a whole army of them yesterday on Ebay, from a girl in Montana. I did what you all suggested. I questioned her thoroughly about it, and she convinced they are UK Blonde, so wish me luck, because if no,t I wasted more money, again.

Well guys, I got my British army, but it wasn’t the UK Blonde. The girl who I explained to what I was looking thought she sent the right ones, but she sent me the salmon colored ones, so I give up. I will just have to wait till HBG gets some more. The good news is I can use the salmon ones, because I don’t have many of those, but the elusive blondes, will have to wait.

  • You are talking about the ( UK Blonde )  cream color?

Yes. This is my second attempt to get some, but they are alluding me.

  • Time to go to rummage sales! :-D

    LOL, I guess so! :-D

  • See amazon has 2 d day games for 2 different prices. Maybe ask them to look and see if they got cream color  for uk in them. Tell them they be like an off white color.

Generations of college-age young men have probably said similar things over the centuries.

Ha Ha, that is funny and probably so true. :-D

I managed to find some on Ebay and HBG helped me get some. Thanks for everyone’s help.

Good.  Hopefully the Ebay ones will be authentic blondes rather than simulated ones (I was tempted to say “bleached blondes”).  The picture below from “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” illustrates this hazard by showing a rather inept attempt to pass off a dog as a reindeer.

The ones from HBG will be true. Will see how my luck goes on Ebay, again. Boy, it has been a long time since I’ve seen that. That is funny. :-D

  • What HBG get ya?

I asked for UK Blonde tanks, fighters and bombers, and also the celery green bombers from revised. He hasn’t told me what he got me and hasn’t sent a bill, so not sure at the moment. I also bought another D Day set, supposedly on Ebay with UK Blonde, fingers crossed and some loose UK Blonde pieces from another Ebayer, fingers crossed, LOL. :-D

Good luck John. I recently obtained a complete Revised Edition with celery UK and Grey Germans for under $50 shipping included. It was extremely difficult to get those Green Brits for a reasonable price and I just happened to luck out with the bonus of Grey Germans.

Yes, I had to wind up buying my green Brits and Grey Germans from HBG. It cost me a lot more than that, so I know what you mean. I guess I’m not as patient when it comes to waiting for something, LOL.

My alternate colored British, Japanese, German and Russian Armies are starting to take shape.

I have a complete British and Commonwealth Army consisting of celery green for my Canadian Army, Tan for my England based Army, UK Blonde for my North African Army, UK Salmon for my South African Army and Khaki for my Indian based Army.

I have complete Regular Pumpkin Orange Army, complete Veteran Red Army.

I have a complete Black and Grey German Army.

Lastly, I have a complete Regular Brown Russian Army, and complete Maroon Elite Red Guard Army.

This has been my goal since, I won’t be painting my units. :-D
