Its that same as if an adjacent soldiers trys to enter your soldiers hex. You can take your DF shpt at him in his starting hex or his dest hex. Same is true of a tank…
Deployment hex?

hi all, sorry i just got the game and was still confused abt the rules tat say deploy within 5 hex,
wat is 5 hex? a radius of 5 hex or in the sense like the last 5 rows from the bottom of the map?
-
Within 5 hexes from your edge of the map, not counting half hexes

ok, edge as in the from 1 corner of the map within a 5 x 5 hex area?
-
No. Start at the edge of the map. Not a corner. Count 5 hexes toward the middle. Your units can go in those 5 rows. You are making it much more difficult than it is.

By the way, one other way you can do set-up that we prefer: 1) Look at the battlefield carefully, 2) put a divider thru the middle of the field so you can’t see opponent’s forces as they are set up. Makes for a more dramatic and interesting design! Also we add one other feature we like: Start 4 hexes in instead of 5… again we feel it makes for a more interesting approach (in this case, we also add one turn to max length of the game, 11 instead of 10.
