    Why thank you sir.

No worries… I would expect nothing less. It will be a good one… always one of the best games every four years.

    Well… 1-0.  :-(

Very good game, can’t say that I am unhappy with the boys. Clearly they laid it all out and did the best they could. Everyone played very well. It is rare that you can say that for every player on both teams, but it really is true.

Canada very much seemed like the better team. The US had few chances and the ones they did have were average. Forwards and defensemen played a very solid defensive game for Canada and carried the offense for great lengths. Ultimately their talent gave them an edge, though I commend the US for playing so hard. Great game and nothing to be unhappy about. Still wish the result was different…

Agree 100%, World class defense from both sides. Everyone talks about the talent and skill up front, but we just saw that great defense and goaltending can win big games. I recall Ryan Mac making a phenomenal defensive play to breakup a Jeff Carter 2 on 1 rush. A huge glove save by Price in the 1st period, and the way the Canadian defense exited their zone was a treat to watch. Kessel’s hooking penalty in the 3rd killed any momentum the Americans had in order to tie the game. To be honest, I was expecting a lot more from Kane and Pacioretty because the US needed somebody to step up other than Kessel and Van Reims, but Calaghan, and Brown had great tournaments. Good luck going for Bronze.

  • The Canadian girls gets the gold!!! Bye bye USA…
And who’s score the 2 last goals!!!
    A true Quebecquer… AGAIN!!!

And tomorrow Canada will beat Sweden…
And who’s gonna score the winning goal…
    Patrice Bergeron…of course…

  • How can you NOT be disappointed in USA Hockey.  All you USA hockey lovers got all hyped up with the same old crap.  You got WAY ahead of yourselves AGAIN with a meaningless win in the pool round.  Face the facts… Canada and Sweden have DOMINATED this sport the last 20 plus years with the Finns always a solid second.  Until hockey is pushed at more levels, the USA will always remain a second rate power.

For me, Finland has passed Russia in the world power rankings.

I’ve got 5 loonies that say Sydney Crosby scores the winning goal AGAIN.

Hopefully not in overtime this time…

LHoffman~ My personal opinion:  the United States is the one team (remaining) in the tournament that actually seems like a team. They really gel and appear to play very well together. The Finns and Swedes have been okay in that respect too. The Canadians have been a major disappointment from all the hype though. With their talent they had been predicted or expected to absolutely annihilate their opponents… that has not happened. Even a 6-0 victory was not as dominant as you would think.

Hate to bring up bad memories for you Garg!  Kariya sucks!

Let’s face it though…the 94 Swedes roster was FAR SUPERIOR to anyone else that year…Canada was lucky to get it to the Shootout IMHO.

  • Definitely not a repeat of Lillehammer….so much for not being a team!

Disappointed, sure. But that doesn’t mean upset with their play (at least against Canada). Seemed like they played as well as they could, but were totally outclassed.

Upset, angry, embarrassed… all those could be used to describe USA vs Finland though. Obviously, they were mentally spent and had no more will to perform, which is a shame.

You can throw my name in there for getting hyped up and drinking the Kool-Aide, go ahead. Perhaps I did… but it is not as though the optimism was unfounded. They played extremely well in the prelims and against the Czech Republic. They even played decently against Canada, but just could not score a goal. They were, perhaps, only one goal away from beating them again. To me, that is something. Yes, the USA is second rate; has been for some time. Will be until they beat Canada. The only first rate hockey power: Canada. They are in a class of their own right now.

  • Our best athletes must be saved for real sports.  Wouldn’t want Kevin Durant to make you cry, scoring 7, 8 goals a night (on 34 shots).

  • I was gonna say. They ( US hockey team) needed Labron, just Labron vs. any other team. Labron James would easily win against any six man team. Durant would need a goalie.

Are you guys serious? Labron would get tattooed to the boards by Zedano Chara, and Durant would get Freight trained in open ice by David Clarkson. These guys get slapped on the arm and their crying for a foul, do you honestly think they have a chance taking a body check let alone standing on skates?
