    Because this game is an experiment, I’m going to write out some of what I am thinking at this point.

    Dear Diary,
    So far this is a worst case test of “Operation Tobruk” (which is good).  I failed to sink z106 and I lost a plane in France.  Battle calculator says not sinking z106 happens 12% of the time; AA shoots down a plane 50% of the time.  I did sink the cruiser in z98 but this game had a bid for a sub in z98.  Having that sub makes it about equal to what should happen in a standard no-bid game if my subs failed to sink the cruiser (which happens 15% of the time).  The silver lining is I didn’t lose anything to convoy raid in z93 and all my mobile units in France are OK.

    The sealion threat is real because I have $101 in hand, which could allow me to build 11 transports and a carrier/destroyer (plus I already have 1 transport and a cruiser).  I also have 12 infantry, 3 artillery, and 9 tanks who could load onto transports in z112.  I don’t have to worry about blockers because I’ll drop the carrier there. Typically I would only have enough for 11 transports instead of 12, but then again UK would typically not have the transport in z106 to bring over 2 more Canadians.  My planes could all fly back to West Germany if we go sealion.

    I have the sealion threat and 3 planes in Rome to deter a Taranto raid.  Sealion threat also deters him evacuating the London planes to reinforce Egypt via French West Africa.  Sealion threat also deters him spending money on an IC in Egypt and/or a transport in South Africa.  I get a lot for just keeping my money in hand instead of spending it!  Good advice from Wheatbeer.

    I have 6 planes defending the Italians in Tobruk. Assuming Italy can take Alexandria, my 6 planes in Tobruk, 1 in Rome, and the 2 bombers in West Germany could airstrike Egypt next turn and clear the way for the Italian assault on Cairo.  In that case we go Barbarossa and notice that the artillery in West Germany could walk all the way to Moscow in time for the final extermination G7.  Italy gets the NO if Germany gets Greece and Italy gets Egypt.  Germany could build some fleet out of South France and transport a land unit down there for a NO too.  Not sure that’s worth the expense but maybe

    So does UK defend Egypt or London?  London is the capitol.

    There is definitely a lot to think about here. I will enjoy the challenge and hope I can prove  a worthy opponent.
    Garg did a Sealion and although it took 18 turns to beat me, I never really thought I could come back. I did make a big mistake in allowing an Italian can opener, to let Germany overwhelm my US Atlantic rescue  fleet though. Perhaps, I was holding my own until then.

    That way we can see how well this strategy works. I really think Sealion is a given, so  I will play UK as I usually do: going for Italy. (I believe if the Allies can keep Italy under pressure and on a low income, the rest will come in time and they win.}
    This strategy makes this strategy hard, maybe even impossible. I will probably not build a Factory in Egypt, as I feel it will be only gifting it to you.  I will let you build it, then take it off you!

    I never pass up the opportunity to grab Sumatra, so sending no 2 Transport to E Africa may prove costly for the Pacific side’s survival.( I am expecting you to go for India, over Aus.) For  this reason,  I was  in two minds about building a TT, instead of an Inf and an Art for India. Unfortunately, my Burmese spies were not able to garner any info and we have been unable to decipher Japanese radio traffic.
    The Americans are off sightseeing off Australia and were not available for comment either.
    Looks like the UK is on its own.

    I am not that happy and definitely feel nervous!
    Taranto was a bloody affair. I always scramble, but thought you would not. Am anxious to know where your It TT will go.
    My defences are certainly creaking and I sense Italy will be hard to control if things go your way. Not sure I would play this again(or you) with a bid as low as 6. Another 3 would have meant I would have sent my Indian TT the right way and not backwards. I don’t know if you followed Marti, but I was sweating that E African battle. And the Bombardment was a success!
