@dawgoneit Note sure what the issues are with using the released version, but this was the one I was directed to when I started playing again.

Wow, that Ukraine battle was insane, just extremely lucky for me.
It happens…however, I tended to try crazy things when stuff like this happens in an attempt to confuse the dice roller and make it go helter skelter
Yeah, I exactly know that feeling. :-)
TUV-wise you got some compensation as India went 18 TUV below average for me. However I acknowledge that Ukraine can have a higher strategic impact.
I really think a big flaw in the game is when you can attack an entire fleet with zero chance of winning and send planes to attack a sea zone with no chance of landing.
I totally forgot about that “rule” in sz91. The loss of the transports is too much for me to overcome with Germany so close to Moscow.
I concede. Good game
good game guys.
JDOW, you may PM me your bid. 1 unit per territory, no tech.
cheers
Thanks for the Game UnknownSoldier, too. I am sorry that your mental slip about the “Carrier-Rule” made the tipping point for you to resign. It really changes the Dynamic for the Allies to protect their TTs and makes a Carrier Build for the Germans more powerful.
The attack came also with its price for the Germans. 2 Planes and a Sub is a decent price-tag. But it was obv. worth to me in exchange for no heavy invasion in the west for another turn.
Without that attack I would have probably been forced to abandon the G7 attack on Moscow and play an eco-game and let the Russian reinforcements arrive. I guess in this scenario it would have been up to me to prove that the Japanese beast can either win in the Pacific or influence the Europe map in favor of the Axis.
Your opening was interesting. Usually I believe an attack in sz97 is essential in UK1. However combined with the complete wipe of the Italians in Africa this was a nice option to put heavy pressure in Europe. I must ask myself whether the counterattack in Tobruk was worth it to lose an essential part of my fleet.
I already tried to copy some parts of your strategy in my current game vs wheatbeer, lets see how this game goes, first time in my life I did not attack sz97 UK1^^
Cheers,
Tobias

Thank you for the comments sir. They were very kind. I certainly re-learned a lesson with the attack move in 91. It is a brilliant strategy. I have tried the whole carrier buy before and have seen it done. I have just never made it work for me and now I know why
I agree that keeping Italy weak is the key to an Allied victory. Sometimes I attack the sea zone and others I go for Africa. I have never really tried to both though.
Good luck in both of your games!
Really nice playing against you…short as it was :-D
