    Oh thank GOD yes! Whew, I about had a heart attack when I saw 3 red dice, but they were MY red dice this time around. I thought I was in for a repeat of the last SBR. I shot down 3 fighters, didn’t lose any air, and did 13 damage.

    Which is a HUGE improvement over the last time around when I lost 2 fighters, 2 bombers, didn’t shoot down any of your air, and only did 6 damage for all my pains. Which 3 fighters did you want to lose? I chose the Frenchie and 2 Brits. But let me know what you’d prefer to keep instead.

    See, the previous SBR that I reference is a HUGE loss that I’d like to avoid. At least the dice evened out some and I got 3 of his air the next SBR. Both battles were 7 German air vs 8 allied fighters.

    And yes, big air battles and SBR’s are liable to cause heart attacks

    I’ve never experienced an air battle involving more than about 5-6 units total from both sides, though…
    I guess that’s why I haven’t been to the ER lately…


  • I prefer the smaller battles as the potential loss is not as big. Once I chuck 6+ air into the air, I feel like I’m bound to lose one. And at that point the damage to the factories is almost incidental to the amount of fighters shot down.

    If I would not know the odds of getting a successful research I would have to think there are 1 to 20 or so. I followed a couple of gamerman’s games and I think in those you spend 100+ so far and got exactly ONE token which was improved mech for Russia YAY :)

    I often get very lucky with tech, actually
    You are witnessing one of my very cold streaks, here with Wheatbeer/Seth/Infrastructure
    I also lost game 2 vs. Allweneed in part because I spent about 70 IPC’s in unsuccessful research (but that was after hitting several good ones in game 1 which certainly aided my win), so we have played no tech since then (my request - Allweneed was OK with either)

    Still waiting for the floodgates to open again, that’s for sure.

    Once you get a few techs, you are much more dangerous not only for the techs you possess, but for the few that are left.  Say you have radar, super subs, and shipyards.
    The threat of you obtaining jets, long range aircraft, or heavy bombers is much higher than if you had no techs yet…
    So there is kind of a cumulative effect.  If you ever roll 6’s, of course…  :|
