13L G40.2 AllWeNeedIsLove vs Gamerman01 game 4
-
The bait was very juicy. It was the right thing to do, at least for round 1. Not sure about round 2, but I think there were merits to that too.
It’s a desperate move to put the entire airforce and almost all tanks for Russia to take a 50/50 shot on for the game, but it was a shrewd thing to do, and it worked out for Allweneedisrolls
-
The dice just destroyed me
Ridiculous
Ouch…
As I have told Bold, ErwinRommel, my brother and others; it is painfully unfair having to attack with 1s.
arathorn - there is nothing unfair about it. it can go just as bad or worse in the other direction. just so happens that apparently tripleA skews against it - either that OR the last 5 battles of this nature that i am aware of have ALL PUNISHED THE ATTACKING RUSSIANS WICKEDLY.

i can only imagine what is would be like to be a guy that always got the dice.

It is not just triplea - in January, playing Europe, I forced the Russians (played by Rommel) to attack my German stack - and his 1s suffered greatly. I am a believer in odds and statistics, but there appears to be a bad omen over Russians attacking with 1s… I’ve never seen it work on a large scale… lol
-
You’ve never seen me play against Bold
-
i routinely was crushed by such attacks from gamerman. if only i had the dice shield that love does. i will keep on making that attack - it’s well worth it for the russians. course i don’t know where gamer attacked from - need to look at the map - but if he had a safe retreat then DEFINITELY.

the first round attack was not that bad for you, ussr scored 3 less hits than average, and germans scored 2 more than average. it was the 2nd round that went real bad for you.
you were doing way to good in europe, and i needed to take risks, on that side of the map.

That is very bad because the first round is so important as the effect is cumulative. That 5.5 unit differential was absolutely huge in preventing me from getting into tanks or aircraft by the 3rd or 4th rounds.
We’ll see what happens over the next round…
-
You make it sound minor when saying 3 hits below and 2 above, but I look at it this way (among other ways)…
One way to look at it, is your first roll defense was average, but both of your bombers hit! And even average would have been terrific for you after I got 11 hits instead of 14.5 median, and you got 2 hits ABOVE -My odds of victory went from 43% to 6% after that first round. In other words, from about 2 chances in 5, to 1 chance in 20. The first round was terrible for me. The second round was unbelievable. FIVE hits?!
That’s one problem with global. You have so many more hours invested in a game when the dice wreak havoc on it.
Ah, well. Happens to everybody at one time or another.

Well, as it’s missing in that exact clip the question is @gamerman: How would YOUR Russian leadership deal with any Russians deciding to retreat? Slaughter them as well?^^
-
Oups, my post was outdated, I overlooked that there was another page in that thread, sorry!

No, leadership ordered them to advance in the opposite direction.
Now that they all have their own guns, the survivors aren’t as expendable.

hobo said pretty much the exact same thing to me after my first round attack with the russians - “you were only 3 hits under and i was only 2 hits over….”
ONLY??? YOU GUYS MAKE ME LAUGH SO MUCH.

Yes, that and when certain people hit on 95% of every single or double 2 rolled in defense, and claim that it doesn’t matter in the long run. I one game I kept track, and my friend had hit on 44 out of 49 single or double 2s defending. If that is only infantry, that is 44 infantry, or 132 IPC lost instead of 16,3 or 49 IPC. I told him, PLEASE don’t tell me that can’t make a huge difference for example for Japan on the mainland! Lol

People like COW has a tremendous hit rate on single defending 2s…
-
yeah not only that but every single defending two he ATTACKS misses.

i wasnt trying to make it sound minor, i know it was a huge boon to the germans. i was replying to your comment of you not being sure of going for a 2nd round.
first rounds of battle are more important than later rounds, just like the first turns of the game are more important than later turns.
i am going to look at the j turn this afternoon and should get it out to you before this evening.
