Hello everyone. I’ve been viewing this forum for years now and have finally registered. I first started playing Axis and Allies Classic in 1994 and have followed the game through its many incarnations. I haven’t had a chance to read a lot of recent posts but I’ll try to catch up. Right now trying to navigate your board on my phone as I’m, eh, between laptops. I’ve always had a habit of mixing game pieces and making up new rules. I guess when you grow up in the seventies that’s an occupational hazard–lots of board games and not too many computer ones? I have a project I’d like to introduce to get some feedback on–hopefully it’s not too much like “The Cones of Dunshire,” (Parks and Recreation–forget the season) but the nice accountants liked that one. Anyway nice to finally be here.
New Pieces/Rules on a Throwback Board.

Anyone ever played new rules and units on the old board?

It would be very tough to go back and play such a simple board as Classic. That being said, I bet a lot of the newer mechanics wouldn’t work so well with such a limited territory count.

I’m sure some stuff mght not work. Dicetruction played thier home brew version and it sounded like good times. I just wondered if anyone else had attempted it.

I have played many games of classic with artillery and cruisers

Did something similar back int he day. No arty but used the old Fortress America hovertanks as a Destroyer/Gunboat. Don’t laugh lol that’s pretty much all we could muster at the time. We used the parts for different stuff too. Back then there wasn’t a lot of options.

Lol I used arty from risk, and Legos for destroyers

One of the earliest A&A expansions which came with sculpts, Enemy on the Horizon, was designed to be played on the Milton Bradley board. It had pieces in the five classic colours. The unit types were commandos, destroyers, artillery.

Hahaha…thanks for sharing that Marc. Yep I have seen the infantry years ago in a random photo with Table Tactics landing craft. On a second note if you still have an MB Game Master box take a look at the British infantry pic on the back… the sub machine gun and pose of the sculpt is far different than anything I’ve EVER seen OOB. I wonder if LH has them in his safety deposit box somewhere LOL.

Anyone know of a place to pick up these units for play on the classic board? Also is there a post within the forum that has a the implementation of the rules. for the Cruisers and Artillery.
