I went when I was really young. I think I mainly visited resorts and amusement parks.
Frozen pizza

Right - you were just over-reacting to someone who said in response to your post about eating out all the time, that “it is cheaper as well as healthier to eat at home. Well, it can be healthier anyway”.
There was even that caveat in there! It was just a generalization.

Most of us commoners can’t afford to eat out every day

Excuse me sir… It was my understanding that peasants are not allowed to speak at the King’s table. ;)

He’s come down out of his castle to talk to us, so we can

Honestly, the only way to make sure that your food is as safe as you want is to grow it yourself. I live in downtown Kansas City, and have a garden in my yard. I’m getting ready to plant some fruit trees this weekend (Peaches – mmmmmm). A fancy restaurant isn’t any “cleaner” than a fast food restaurant – the point is, you don’t know what you are being fed.
So, if you wanna clean it up, then the only way is to get your hands dirty and grow it yourself.
In the meantime… I’ll take some pizza. :) Although, to be fair, my wife and I actually make ours homemade, since it is so much better, and she’s gluten free anyway…
(I’m not over the top. I eat meat I don’t grow myself, although with the cat population around here, I certainly could make some homemade Cashew Kitty… :D )

Thanks, Dizz, interesting post
Are you sure the dirt in your garden is pure?
-
But of course! Just ask the fungi…… 8-)

Yer dang right! What are all these peons and peasants doing talking in my house! wink
Look, eating at home can be healthy or unhealthy. Healthy food costs more, but I am switching my whole family’s diet over to "if that’s not how it looked when God made it (nature if you prefer) then DONT EAT IT, because you can literally fool your brain into thinking it ate something (for instance it might think you ate an orange because you ate some gummy worms) and deny yourself the actual nutrients you need.
That said, sometimes I have to shut up and go to Dennys where they believe in truth in advertising: “Food as good as it looks.” D@mn straight! Looks bad, tastes bad, bad for you, high calories, low nutrients, but it makes the boys happy and happy boys don’t flip my Axis and Allies table over.
Likewise, if Totinos keeps them from touching my game board, then more power to Totinos!

OMG never go to Denny’s
They did a study on that place and found they saturate all their food in salt, like 5 times the daily allowance in one freaking meal.

Do you have kids?
Cause, I kid you not, it is literally the only place on earth where your kids cannot get you kicked out!
Is it poison? probably. Is it as bad as McDonalds? hellz no! Does it have pizza? Well, I can’t really say NO, because they call it pizza on the menu, but I rather doubt it counts!
-
No kids. But somebody has to put their foot down to protect them from certain death, and Denny’s is it ( grim reaper of humans with death meals).
I was partial to an occasional Moon over my Hammy until i found out the salt content was off the charts. And those Hash browns taste like Kaka. Damn cheapest ingredients.

You know IL… I would argue that all your pent up anger, expressed stress, social anxiety, and genuine unforgiveness is even more poisonous for your health than Denny’s. :P Not to mention the complete inability to take a joke on occassion!
And I am surely not the only one saying “Thank god IL didn’t have kids!” :D
I’ll stop there though, as this post is probably taking days off your life expectancy as you read it.

IL,
Compare it to McDonalds.
At least I can sit down and eat, without running all over the store! And the food is better…high salt yes, but so is McDonalds…

Moms got to do what Moms got to do, don´t like Mcdonalds and the other stuff as well but if the kids like it.
I say thanks over everything we eat, and I´m not bothered If my wife serves me ones or often frozen pizza, cuz she knows to even make the best out of everything.
I can cook too but there is only one General in the kitchen allowed, so I wash the dishes :-D. -
I am not allowed to wash up, as I do such a bad job!
I am allowed to dry and put the clean things away. -

Well i suppose you eat at Denny’s often?
And i suppose all the defensiveness for eating Kaka is inherent from poor eating habits of many posters here.

KaKa? you are sooo German. :-D :-D

@Imperious:
Well enjoy it while you can. In a few years all that salt will screw up your heart and also cause you to require insulin…because you went for “cheap eats”
Don’t fool yourself thinking expensive food is healthier by default. They go for flavor over anything else (except maybe atmosphere), and that relies on a lot of salt, fat, and sugar. Since that’s what we equate with things tasting good.
And it’s dumb to say a woman can only be liberated by having a career. Some women want to be moms, nothing wrong with that. I know a few that juggle both a job and kids and sometimes the dad stays at home. Because that’s what you do when you’re not a selfish asshole and have kids.
If you can’t cook and want to eat out all the time and can do so, more power to you. But many people don’t have that ability or need to. I love a woman that can cook, and women love men that can cook. I think it’s pathetic if you can’t make some simple things in the kitchen.
And, it costs less and you have more control over the flavor and nutrition/dietary concerns. It’s truly fun to experiment and try out new things, and it’s the same reason I brew beer. One night it’s shakshuka, another it’s Guinness beef stew, another it’s spicy stir fry, and then the next it’s breakfast pizza. It’s pretty damn liberating to craft a delicious meal from scratch, if you want my opinion.
Back at the topic at hand, I don’t mind frozen pizza here and there, and if your wife/girlfriend has left you one, then I think it’s great she’s thinking about you. I would prefer a homecooked meal, but I don’t expect one.

Don’t fool yourself thinking expensive food is healthier by default.
That is never my point. I was saying they have really nice restaurants ( at least in my area) that prepare very healthy meals, which taste better than you can make at home and no mess to clean up.
You can pay alot and still get crap or eat at home and still eat crap. Yes some restaurants add alot of really bad ingredients to make it taste better, but you just got to avoid those.
You can also be a selfless asshole AND HAVE KIDS. Don’t fool yourself.
I think it’s pathetic if you can’t make some simple things in the kitchen.
You can be fooled by that, but what really is going on is time is money for some people. It is not really a lack of ability but in some cases like anything else it can be.

Yes it’s liberating to be able to push the ON button. Agreed

I know many would be chefs that cant even make frozen pizza or boxed macaroni and cheese. I know many in the Chicagoland area that can afford to make nothing but frozen pizza and boxed macaroni and cheese. Hell, my eldest complained that his friend got breakfast for dinner night twice a week, when quizzed what he meant, he said “Nitten gets to eat cereal for dinner!”
Compared to “cereal for dinner” healthy food is much more expensive. :P Assuming cereal means your typical American: Frosted, Honey, Sugar Bombs now with nothing but Marshmallows anyway.
Frozen pizza has a place on my table, as does the non-frozen varieties (home made and ordered.) Certainly it isn’t a weekly occurance, more like twice a month we have Totinos pizza, once a month I make pizza from raw ingrediants and once a month we order Rosatis pizza. However, I have to admit, even my home made pizza has a lot more sugar and salt than I would prefer…but c’mon it’s PIZZA!
-
I used to eat 4 a week when I worked with my dad.
Do you know how many friends you have and how many things you get free when you flash pizza?
I often did not pay for drinks and never paid to get into clubs.
As for after hours, well…
People in Hereford still talk about my dad’s pizze.
